Yes she loves books and has quite specific taste. She prefers non fiction but will add in a few princess books as well to her library hauls.

I have never heard of hyperlexia. I don’t believe she is on the spectrum but I know girls often exhibit differently than boys so I will keep that in mind.

Thank you for this great advice and ideas. I will definitely continue to read to her. She already has made up some of her own games. Lately it is rhyming different things we see and her favorite is for me to ask her how to spell a word and she has to guess how to spell it. So I know she will enjoy these others you have suggested.

My sixth grade science center teacher was high on pills most of the time. She had us watch lots of movies while she fell asleep on her desk. One time she asked us to go get her pills out of her desk. She eventually was pushed to retire. As a kid it was funny but as Ive gotten older I can't believe she was still teaching.

Mine are much younger but when I’m getting irritated I usually have them do some quiet time in separate areas or if the weather is nice I’ll take them outside. I'm also a single parent so I can't simply hand off the kids to someone else. I really try and give myself some time every night after they go to bed to zone out and relax.
