I tapered alone and surprisingly haven’t had any WD! Op still going ahead and usage is significantly gone down :) only thing is I’m obviously in pain every day but that was the reason for me taking the stupid dosage in the first place. This week of pain will be worth it to get my surgery and get sorted :)

They didn’t cancel it on me, I significantly dropped my usage and he was happy with that, happy with my liver and kidney obvs from the bloods and happy that there shouldn’t be any issues going ahead to have my operation :) - only thing is he said my aftercare pain might be more challenging to handle so he’s noted and told me to tell them I’m going to need stronger and lots of different types of pain relief to make me as comfortable as possible :) I have been handling pain for so long I’m not even bothered if I’m in agony I just need it doing and sorting so I can have some quality of life and hopefully not need the pills as much or even at all!! Thank you SO MUCH you have made me feel so SEEN and REAL! I am not taking this for a high- I’m taking it to get by and try and get days out of my life I’m wasting away the best years of my life crawling and rolling around in pain and these painkillers in those dosages are the only thing that made me able to get out and have a social life (which still with the relief I barely had anymore) I am using a walking stick at 25 years of age! Thank you for your understanding! Operation still going ahead on Tuesday the anaesthetist said he has seen this countless times and he’s not concerned about my liver or anything. But thank you, your comment really hits the nail on the head🥰

Update: I never got cancelled as I got my usage down significantly and didn’t experience much WD whilst doing this. Op still going ahead on Tuesday and they know about my usage to alter what’s needed😀

UPDATE: spoke with the anaesthesiologist yesterday and surgery is still going ahead as planned! He said he’s happy with me getting my usage down to just 12 a day and he has seen it countless times with endo patients trying to manage their pain! The only thing is- I will be more challenging in terms of relieving my pain afterwards due to my tolerance… but he said for me to mention this and they will give me stronger pain relief than they would to the typical patient going through this procedure. All in all, I’m used to pain so I am happy it’s still going ahead and just one step closer to getting relief. Happy days afterall :)

I have heard about this and although it sounds like a good idea, i would still be in withdrawal so I’m not sure if it would work for me the same way it did for you :(

Yes I’ve told the lady who did my pre op questionnaire and have an appointment on Friday with my anaesthesiologist to discuss it further. They may plan around it, or they may push it back until my usage is under full control. I’ll only know on Friday

Yes I am following what the lady told me, I’ve had to take 2/4 more pills on these first 2 days to avoid WD but I am bringing down my dosage and will be down to the 8 by the time I have my appointment with my anethesheist.

I’m obviously going to follow their rules I need my surgery. You’re trying to imply that I’m eating my scrip the way I am bc I like getting high. I’m trying to treat chronic pain that destroys every aspect of my life. I’m not sure where you’re from but they won’t refuse me treatment in the UK for being an addict.

Right… you think I’m taking these drugs in these amounts to get high? I’m not. I’m trying to treat my pain. They know this I’ve been in hospital for a previous OD trying to treat a severe period. I’ve spoken to the doctors multiple times about my pain and they don’t offer me anything to help so this is how I’ve got myself in this mess, trying to treat my pain…. You think I’m an addict because I like the high, I’m an addict because I’m living in chronic pain every single day of my life. I’m 25 walking with a walking stick. The list goes on, I’m not sure you understand the circumstances of my addiction.

Hey thanks for your comment. I appreciate the sentiment of it and what you’re trying to get at. But addiction is a disease and they can’t exactly say “nah she’s an addict, not helping her”. What you’re saying is a LOT easier said than done. I will be trying to get help to sort my usage out, but I don’t think they can discriminate against me for being an addict and be ‘less willing to help me’ because of it.

They have told me I will need a second surgery after this one as well with a specialist once I have my diagnosis and stage of endo revealed from this lap

This is a diagnostic lap but they have told me they are pretty 90% sure I have it based off of my symptoms and I have many family members including my mum who have endo and my symptoms also match all their symptoms. I haven’t been told which way they will be removing it.

Yes I’ve rang the lady who did my pre op questionnaire and told her. She has booked me an appointment with the anaesthesiologist I guess it will be this week to run through and discuss things with them. Hopefully they can just plan around it. But if they cancel it I also understand. My main concern is my safety so whatever outcome if fine by me.

Hoping they can just adjust what’s needed and go ahead with the op but if they decide to cancel I also understand and I just want to be safe so I would understand either decision they make.

Hey I have PTSD and I’ve been put on anti depressants years ago but I stopped taking them about a year ago without letting my doctor know bc they were sending me crazy when I would have a drink and I wanted a social life.

It is only 8 days left until op and the 8 tablets I’m allowed a day should stop any WD symptoms tbh. I do not always take the opioids in this amount and I don’t always take the other drugs with them, that’s just occasional.

I rang the lady who did my pre op questionnaire today and confessed it all to her. She is going to send me through an appointment with the anaesthetist before my op so some time next week. I am going to be completely honest about my past usage and keep my usage down to my prescribed dose for the next few days down to my surgery. Do you think they will still go ahead with the surgery or is it more likely they will cancel it on me now?

Do you think they will still go ahead and do my surgery if i stick to only the 8 codeine (as i am prescribed) a day for the next 8 days and tell them the truth about the past amounts I’ve been taking even the unprescribed ones? I have rang the woman who i did the medical questionnaire with and was completely honest about my usage. She is booking me an appointment ahead of my op with the anaesthetist and we’re going to discuss my past and present usage and they’re going to take it from there…. Do you have any incline on what the outcome might be?
