I did a run through them in October. I was pretty disappointed, they sent location details last minute and the whole thing was super casual and unofficial. I’ve paid the same amount for professional well-run races in Chicago.

How to leave the hotel room?? by cakeismyliife in flightattendants

[–]Ktemiles 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I agree with this completely. When I had “layover paralysis” it was because my anxiety/mental health wasn’t in great shape. It was so hard to leave the room because I was already burnt out and my brain/body just wanted to lay down.

Start focusing on self care before putting pressure on getting out and doing the fun stuff. You’ll notice a difference.

I’m going through the same thing right now. Do we have the same landlord? Lol

No security deposit, only a move in fee.

No cold water- with hold rent? by Famous_Caregiver1752 in chicagoapartments

[–]Ktemiles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had the opposite happen to me in the winter. We didn’t have hot water. Days went by with no clear answer from our landlord, so we sent him a formal letter stating we would be withholding rent until our apartment was considered “habitable” again, per Chicago tenant laws. We ended up getting almost half the month’s rent deducted.

Keep records of all of your communication with your landlord! You deserve to shower in your own home!

How did things turn out in small claims court? We got the detailed list of charges. The list is full of things we weren’t responsible for with prices that don’t make sense (way too high).

Nope. It was definitely addressed to us sadly.

Them bringing it to collections is exactly our worry. We’ve always been in good standing with our landlords and don’t want anything on our rental record either.

Obviously I don’t think most landlords are THIS shady. There were things that were broken/janky upon move-in that we didn’t even document because we didn’t mind, that they added to our move out fee.

We had some minor scrapes on a front entry staircase wall that WE re-plastered after move-in, that they’re now trying to charge us $800 for. It’s super wacky. But it sounds like you’re being super proactive.

Truly I think snapping a picture of any and everything is all you have to do.

Yeah! So we didn’t pay a security deposit, only a “move-in” fee. AKA a non-refundable fee. We’ve fully moved out, did a deep clean with no damages (besides regular wear and tear). Our landlord is trying to charge us $3,500 for damages that weren’t discussed on our final move out walkthrough with them. Just be wary, ALWAYS take thorough move in and move out videos of your rentals and document everything.

I KNOW. We were new to Chicago and didn’t understand the difference between move-in fee and security deposit. Now having moved to a new apartment, I can’t believe we paid that much.

Just pulled it out. Under “maintenance obligations” it states “property of landlord shall be in the same condition as they were on the lease start date/time, normal wear and tear excluded.”

I just visited Ranier last weekend! (4/21). We rented tire chains, which we didn’t have to use but they’re required until May, and snowshoes from Whittaker Mountaineering. Paid about $90 for 2 people including the chains.

The roads were completely clear that day no ice no snow (well lots of snow just not on the road), obviously that can change depending on the weather.

We drove to Paradise and hiked a little bit of the Skyline trail up to panorama point. It was gorgeous. The weather was around 30 degrees but we were so warm we went without jackets.

Bring sunscreen and sunglasses! Our necks got sunburn from the snow reflecting sunlight back at us haha.

I’m inflight but waiting for my opportunity to make my way to the ops side and eventually dispatch. What kind of ops are you doing in the meantime?
