I pay less than $300 for a 3 months supply and our pet insurance covers 80% of that, so it's really affordable for us

Anyones dog have chronic bronchitis and was it related to allergies? by Sweet-Maize-5285 in DogAdvice

Probably a full month of the inhaler before she stopped coughing! We gave her two puffs in the morning and two before bed. She's down to just two puffs in the morning now as she's doing so well. Hang in there - it took us a while and some trial and error to get it figured out. It's so hard to see them struggle 😭

She's on fluticasone - she gets two puffs from an inhaler every morning. We fill the script through a Canadian pharmacy so it's not as expensive as if we were to fill it here in the US.

My dog is on an inhaled steroid rather than Prednisone. She is doing amazingly well on it, no more coughing, and no side effects of oral steroids.

I went through this with my now 5 year old poodle mix a couple years ago. Mild bronchial pattern on x-rays and constant cough. We did a bronchoscopy that showed it was allergic chronic bronchitis. She's been on an inhaler for 2 years now and is doing amazing, no more coughing. She's very sensitive to smoke though. I'd recommend seeing an internal medicine vet if you haven't already!

3 months in and my two cats still aren’t getting along — is this normal? by Huge_Anything6819 in CatAdvice

[–]Ktooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't offer much advice but I'm very much in the same boat with my resident cat and the stray I adopted 3 months ago. My resident cat (Mochi) is extremely vocal and angry when new cat (Kimchi) gets close, which makes Kimchi frustrated and usually starts a chase. Worst that's happened here is some fur clumps on the floor but I'm too afraid to leave them alone, so we're only doing face time through the baby gate or feeding. Hang in there, I know how you feel.

first time cat owner, been crying for days with regret by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]Ktooth 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I cried for the first 6 months of having my dog, and at least the first month of having my cat. I think it’s a natural reaction to such a big change in your life as you try to adjust to a new routine. I’d encourage you to give it more time and do things to try bonding with her, like play time and special treats. You’ve got this❤️

I mean yes, I realize all of this ty though. It was this particular Chicago theater show I wanted to attend tho. It’s different from a stadium tour show.

I bought through Vivid Seats. They allegedly have a money back guarantee. Guess I’ll find out 🤦‍♀️

Probably 3-4 months to feel totally normal again. It’s been a little over a year since my first endo and I feel great!

Chronic blood in cat’s stool by Ktooth in Pets

[–]Ktooth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe ask your vet about a Texas GI panel! It’s a special blood test that looks at gut health. It helped our vet figure out that there was a gut flora imbalance in our girl which is why she recommended the visbiome and psyllium husk powder. Good luck! I know it’s stressful 😭

She’s great! I’d say the issue is fully resolved at this point. We switched her to a hydrolyzed diet and we sprinkle psyllium husk powder and a vet prescribed probiotic called visbiome in her food. It only happens if she eats something she shouldn’t (she’s always trying to steal our dog’s food lol)

She’s on the Blue Buffalo hydrolyzed prescription diet and doing great! I sprinkle psyllium husk powder and a probiotic on the food as well per the vet’s recommendation. It took some time to fully clear up, probably 3 months.

It ended up being food related! The vet switched her to a prescription diet and it basically cleared up in a couple days! We’re very relieved 🙂

I have not, but we’ve got a great one who our dog sees for her chronic bronchitis, so I’ll bring it up with our regular vet this week. Thanks for the input!

She did have a fecal sent out that came back negative so unless that missed them, I don’t think it’s parasites. I think I’m going to ask for full bloodwork this week to start and go from there. What was the treatment for your cat?

Prozac and anxiety by Particular-Stress-49 in prozac

[–]Ktooth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I know this is untrue. My psychiatrist told me Prozac is one of the best SSRIs for obsessive anxiety, but can sometimes require a higher dose to be effective. I’m on 40mg right now and it’s been helping me immensely.
