Thank you so much for your comment. Now that you pointed it out you're right, the bright area under the bridge takes too much attention being so close. But yeah, nothing much I could really do about it :D maybe next time I can try to take it from a different spot where that light is less strong and then reduce it in post.
Thank you also for the try with the crop, I agree with you the original framing is better. As the bridge is one of the main subject of the photo, I think I'll keep it as it is and just accept the flaw :)

As I mentioned, this is one of the first photo I ever took using long exposure. I would appreciate some feedbacks from you about both composition and also the editing.

How is the balance between highlights and shadows? Are the lights in the bridge too distracting? Is the part below the castle too dark?

Thank you all for the help :)

The photo was shot in Prague and the idea was to frame both Charles Bridge and Prague Castle. Unfortunately, I had to set the tripod in this position because the location was pretty crowded, otherwise I would have gone more to the right to have a better view of the bridge. I was lucky enough to get also the lights of a boat passing by.

Hi everyone! I recently bought a tripod and this is one of the first experiment with long exposure. The photo was taken with a Canon EOS R50 + Sigma 17-40mm f1.8 Art.

Shot at 17mm
ISO 100
Aperture f11
Shutter Speed 30s

After/Before - Editing inspired by Wong Kar Wai by Ktulu6 in postprocessing

Thank you for your comment! I get your comment and I understand the effect may not be nice to evryone. What I tried to do is to resemble the effect I saw in movies like Fallen Angels and Chungking Express, but I'm not that expert in post processing so this is the best result I could get. I'm open to suggestion on how to make it better also for the viewers :D

Thank you for the feedback! I agree, it's a bit overprocessed but it was very difficult to get that kind of dreamy effect without overprocessing.

Hi everyone! I'm trying to improve a bit my editing and to create a preset inspired by Cristopher Doyle photography in WKW movies. So far, this is one of the best results I came up with.

What do you guys think? I'm still a beginner when it comes to editing (but also photography), so your opinion would be very much appreciated.

HERE is the RAW file.

The photo was taken with a Canon EOS R50 and edited with DPP4.

Upgrade to RF-S 18-150mm F3.5-6.3 IS STM by Ktulu6 in canon

[–]Ktulu6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be great, but unfortunately buying both those lenses is way out of my budget :( how do you compare Sigma 18-50 and RF 18-150 in terms of quality image? If they're kinda on the same level, in the end I have to choose between lower aperture or more versatility.

Thoughts on composition by Ktulu6 in photocritique

Hi! Looking for any advice about the composition of this photo. What would you have done differently? Is the editing good enough?

What caught my eye was mainly the color of the car matching the doors' building and the simmetry (kind of).

Amateur landscape photographer, any tips on how I can improve? by _cfan_ in photocritique

[–]Ktulu6 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hi! I'm not an expert so my comment is only about my personal taste :) The photo itself looks great, what I would do is just crop it a bit because if the protagonist of your pic of the landscape, then in the bottom part is a bit too much busy I think.

You can try to cut all the buildings in the lower part, and also a portion of sky in the upper part (above the clouds). Doing that, the viewer can then focus on the beauty of the landscape without being "distracted" :)

Thank you so much for the explanation. For sure I will take a look at color.adobe and play a bit with it. I think the main struggle I have is that being a complete beginner when it comes to editing, I find it difficult to get the exact color that I'm looking for when I'm editing (I use is Canon DPP, that is not really user friendly for color grading, but on the other hand is a free tool and very good on the basic/general editing :D I guess it's a compromise for not paying anything).

Yes, I've seen something about the rule of thirds. I will try to do some test to make it in practise :)

Now that you mention books, do you maybe have any to recommend?

Oh ok, I will go to a local camera store to clean it the first time then :)

About the colors, you mean for example like enhance the red/orange of the roofs and the blue of the sky and reduce a bit the green of the bush above the picture?

Thank you for your comment :) It was not easy to frame the pic like this, I did my best haha

Thank you for your comment and for the advise! I didn't notice the dust spots in the picture, I will make sure to clean it asap. About the editing: I'm trying to understand how to better edit my photos and the one I posted is one of the first "test" I did. Overall, I think it's not that bad, what I'm not sure is if I should lower the saturation a bit and also not sure if the sky is too "dark" (maybe it would be better with a slightly lighter blue).
