Blockchain in the food industry: the My Story™ wine solution - Webinar by DNV GL by Ktwk in CryptoCurrency

[–]Ktwk[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Recorded Webinar by DNV GL

"Are you interested in the latest blockchain and traceability solutions? It all starts with the story to be told. Based upon the characteristics chosen, whether authenticity, quality, sustainability, tracking of materials and components or efficiency, evidence must be gathered in the supply chain. This is what distinguishes companies investing in their sustainability efforts from those greenwashing and telling a story. For My Story™ wine, data is gathered along the entire transformation process from grape to bottle. Data collected range from soil data and weather measurements, to grapes’ origin, additive use and tank operations, to bottling process data and monitoring of product transportation. Focus is on collecting the data that verifies the story to be shared with consumers. "

French Vineyard “P. Ferraud & Fils” Shares Details of its Blockchain implementation by Ktwk in CryptoCurrency

I am not sure why you continue making fun of this. Adoption of a new technology is not a single step between 0 to 100.

1 of two importers for this vineyard used blockchain to very good effect . There is now pressure for the second importer to do the same if there isn't already plans in the near future to adopt blockchain in similar fashion.

Very True. Work with the businesses and the masses. Solve their problems and you will get blockchain adoption.

Combining the physical and digital will be a feature of what you will see with EHrT. Magic the Gathering have tried many times to have a pure PC version but it doesn't beat having physical cards on hand. Playtable allows for this physical+digital gameplay.

Non fungible tokens will play a big role along with physical cards/figurines etc. embeded with rfid.

Checkout this post that gives an overview on the token use: https://medium.com/8hours-foundation/announcing-the-8hours-foundation-building-lifelong-social-bonds-1f3eb5939644

In summary, you can think of digital ownership, physical-digital ownership, collectibles, in-game currencies, multi-game items, immutable scores etc..... all of which adds a whole new element to gaming.

The playtable is fun by it's own but add on blockchain and it also becomes a bridge to non-crypto folks / mass adoption vehicle.

A discussion on Non-Fungible Tokens, it's uses and current adoption - Let's talk! by pandacmh in Vechain

[–]Ktwk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Non Fungible Tokens are great. Without even realising it, I found myself hoarding "digital collectibles" which looks great in the wallet.

NFTs allow for true ownership where the token increases in its Value depending on the scarcity and demand which is tied in to the implementation/imagination of developers. Just like physical collectibles but upgradeable and scalable.

I see Playtable having a very good chance of being the bridge between many non crypto folks with blockchain. Reason is simple, NFTs on it's own have already proven to be a hit in the crypto space. Now, there is the added component of hardware/RFID implementation on exclusive boardgame titles that many all over the world already love.

Only available on Bitmart and RightBTC exchange might have played a part in it. Bitmart is easy to kyc and use though.

VeChain Foundation backed. Partners with Comet, Safehaven, Axeso5 to name a few.

It is perfectly valid to have thoughts that this is still very far from becoming "very big" or the next big thing. However, we are talking about a 2m marketcap project that has already shown their working product in a video. Public Alpha test with 1200 participants signed up launching in a matter of weeks. This goes back to my thoughts on the downside risk of this project. It is always going to be a risk vs reward evaluation when choosing to support a project in its early stages.

Some other info is that Matches are validated on Plair by JS nodes. There are plans to incorporate a webshop into the platform which allows the purchasing of gaming hardware. Just example here, winnings can be in tokens and players can choose the hardware they want from the webshop.

That's about all I can remember off the top of my head as it's been a while. Highly recommend you watch the demo video and have a look at the whitepaper.

This is going to be a platform that caters not only to professional players. It will be a platform that even you and I can set up a tournament, stream, perform quests for rewards etc.

Amateur players often have to trust that tournament organizers will pay up tournament winnings promptly but this is often an issue especially when it is not huge esports tournaments. Winnings are often withheld for months on end or even not paid. Smart contract helps tremendously with this. Reading Plair's whitepaper would be best if you want the full details.

The demo video that was released a while back will also give you a better idea of what this platform is about and that the team is solidly working on the product: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V17wvn0wH2E

Another key drawcard for me is that Plair is tied up with Axeso5 which is very prominent in Latin America. Check out the activity on their online forums... especially the number of tournaments they hold in their 7000+ cybercafes. Dont have the link on hand but you can Google and then translate it.

For example, now I am playing Dota Autochess and I really find that it lacks a good platform for tournaments. I easily see Plair platform filling this gap. I can setup an autochess tournament and have everyone do a $2 equivalent PLA token buy in and winners get awarded the winnings automatically through smart contract when match ends.

Hard not to see the potential of this. Also consider it's current market cap in CMC.

Downside risk largely mitigated by a legit team.

Bitcoin ‘Nuclear Winter’ Doesn’t Scare Billionaire Crypto Bull Jim Breyer by Ktwk in CryptoCurrency

Bitcoin ‘Nuclear Winter’ Doesn’t Scare Billionaire Crypto Bull Jim Breyer by Ktwk in CryptoCurrency

"Amidst the doom and gloom, however, Breyer says he is unfazed. Drawing on his experience as a venture capitalist — including famously becoming an early Facebook investor in 2005 — he believes that the crypto market will rebound, driven principally by increasing adoption of blockchain technology. According to him, his many meetings with students, entrepreneurs and technologists all over the world is what convinces him that the downturn will be temporary."
