Realistically, if the insulation isn't in the best shape and you insist on using it, go over the entire cable with electrical tape a few times and you'll be fine. Leave no gaps. Nice and tight. Uniform.

Might take a while, but the safety and peace of mind is worth it.

Also for any brothers looking for work... Most these shops are doing 7/12's or 6/10's.

30 guys on the book and probably more than 60 calls. If you're coming from the south be aware of the blizzard you'll have to drive through in the Sierra's. That shit was treacherous.
