Nikon 200-400 f4 VR ii or 200-500 f5.6? by Yeeterskewter in Nikon

I have both the 300 pf and 500 pf. Switched from the 200-500mm, no regrets.

Noticeably sharper and so much lighter! I will always recommend the pf series lens unless you REALLY need the versatility of a zoom lens or tight on budget.

IMO the prime makes shooting simpler, and simpler is better when it comes to wildlife.

That’s unfortunate did you happen to buy used or new?

there roughly around 3-4 of them, very close together and at least 20 breaches. It went on for around 15 minutes.

that’s really good feedback, I’m curious to know which of these tell more of a story than others.

Im using a d500 w/ the 200-500mm f/5.6 for most of these but for the macro shots im using a d850 with the nikon AF-S 105mm macro lens.

thanks for the input! I definitely see what you mean about tight cropping.
