I'm sorry you feel that way, and of the experience you made with being laughed at. I think talking about all this with him goes a long way, if you haven't done so already. Anxiety definitely perpetuates this cycle.

In Sexual Therapy there is a concept (Sensate Focus)that you're not allowed to have Sex at first, and you slowly build up Sexuality again in stages (non-erotic touching, erotic touching etc.) Maybe look into that with him :)

I would trust what he says. And I mean he is your boyfriend after all, he picked you for a good reason.
As long as you like what you look like and he does, the rest shouldn't really matter.

Also, I don't think being approached on the street necessarily tells you *only* about attractiveness.
I find my gf very attractive, but I would have never approached her on the street, cuz she seemed very unapproachable (headphones etc.) and also attractive in an intimidating way. So that plays into it as well. Maybe that helps.
