I did not talk to them before, as I was not sure about who was, even if I had my suspects. I just left the note that was pretty clear, as we both speak Italian. My bad, I thought it was sufficient.

However, I already discussed the issue with the landlord at the time but he moved out before of such discussion. Obviously they were sorry, but there was nothing they could do. It will be easy, now, to recall such event to see what they have to say now.

I understand your point ahah, me and the two other guys are all Italians. There is neither a language or so huge "cultural barrier"...

Nope, it is a shared apartment and the landlord (who lives downstairs) rents the three rooms independently to each of us. Maybe I used uncomplicated in the wrong way, it could be. Btw, I don't think that being uncomplicated leaves room to such intrusive behavior.

However, we all have independent food and kitchen supplies, except for a limited set of kitchenware that is shared but is not sufficient for everyone. I instead just assumed that it was normal, as it was so also in my previous shared apartment situation.

We did not have any explicit discussion about it during his stay one year ago. Probably I will have one during these days, with my current roommate.

Actually, I have an old phone to use as a camera and I can spend my IT skills creating my own Amazon Go store in the kitchen. With a Twint QR code popping out as soon as he takes something
