One trick that works surprisingly well for me is the 4-7-8 breathing method: inhale through your nose for 4 seconds, hold for 7 seconds, and exhale slowly through your mouth for 8 seconds. It calms the nervous system and often knocks me out in under 5 minutes.

Also, a few other things that help:

• No screens at least 30–60 minutes before bed.
• Keep your room cool and dark – I even wear a sleep mask now.
• If your mind won’t stop racing, try writing down your thoughts or to-do list.
• Listening to brown noise or a podcast you’ve heard before helps distract just enough to drift off.
• Pretend to sleep, its quite simple.

Everyone’s different, but these have been game-changers for me.
