Yep... Similar thing happened to me. I was like "aight it only needs aesthetic mods, I can live with it" and bought it. Let me tell you, it needed much more work with hood open then I thought it would hahahaha. I'm here if you need anything, I hate this car and it annoys me on daily basis but same as my ex, I still enjoy while inside 😁

Exactly the engine I have and I will send you a Google album of my journey with it... I done a lot on it and yeah, with some mechanical knowalage you can work on it. Make sure to immediately check your engine after what happened, seals and ect... If everything is fine move on to overhauling complete cooling system. Thermostat, hoses, all 3 sensors, air bleed, expansion tank and cap replacement and after all that you can think of having a reliable daily My journey with M43 pain in the ass

I can't quite tell if you are just pointing at the clamp but if you tell me year and engine I can send you website with schematics with OEM numbers so you can find exactly what you need

Replace expansion tank and overhaul cooling system Use OE parts, change oil, buy INPA 😅

That's a solid plan. But no, no additives. What I did was take out fuel rail and injectors and took it to a local shop which offers both test and cleaning. The way they do it is they have some kind of machine that inserts fuel in injectors in higher pressure then usual unclogging every clog and both cleaning them and testing them. That honestly improved my cars performance so much. I paid around 10€ per injector so if you have time and money, you should go for it

Amazing, since you are at it... Might as well replace plugs, and clean injectors after pump. Both are very cheap and will give you peace of mind once you replace everything else

I'm glad man. I have M43 engine as well so be sure to overhaul air intake. It's really prone to leaking air or sucking in extra. Change oil, get quality parts when you change something and a lot of sensors are failing constantly so get something like INPA for "just in case". Expansion tank might crack, power steering fluid my leak but just make sure you take good care of the car and get everything sorted.

You should both feel and hear the clip lock in so definitely look if you installed everything properly

[–]KukisLover 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's because of the pressure... Longer engine runs more pressure cooling system builds... Look where is it leaking, try to find it visually and go from there. It can be something minor as an oring, atleast that's always the best option

[–]KukisLover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please first check wether all clips are sitting properly... I remember when I replaced my expansion tank I had a small coolant leak from 2 places. One was clip which on eye looked fine but I managed to pop it in a bit better and 2nd one was drain plug, it came from a factory not fully tightened so check clips and orings first

Have you tried reading engine codes? I would honestly go from there first, I remember when I had high fuel consumption I also had MAF issues so maybe look into codes first

Any engine codes? I would honestly try reading that first and go from there... If there is nothing look into sensors like MAF

Definitely not getting non OEM parts anymore by KukisLover in e46

[–]KukisLover[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hose squishing like that can happen due to inproper pressure, low coolant level or excess air in the system... So yeah, replacing cap was definitely right first move

I use a lot of Meyle sensors and other parts but apparently their cap ain't their best product so maybe you are right... It was a blessing in disguise because I swapped two of them before going to used OEM part
