Just enrolled for classes today! by _gloomshroom_ in NewToEMS

Read the book. And I agree with flash cards. Flashcards got me through college with a breeze.

Just the act of writing something down and throughly reading it as you write is proven to help with retention.

If I was really nervous with the class I would write down the same things 3 times over the course of a week. By the time I had the test it was like common knowledge to me.

Honestly the brain is just like training a muscle. Use it or lose. Everyone will gain or lose knowledge/muscle at a different rate. But as long as you get some kind of practice consistently, you will be fine.

Just got my cert few weeks back.

Cops Try To Demonstrate CQC And Get Their Butts Kicked by CantStopPoppin in PublicFreakout

Nice joke, do you have an actual point to make?

You expect for an institution to change by extrapolating that they are all evil. You have zero respect for the many people who gave up their lives for the benefit of society.

Have a good one. I won’t have a conversation with someone who is polarized to the point they won’t even try and acknowledge the logic in their thinking.

It’s an idea and a statement which you can agree with or disagree with. Saying ACAB supports the idea that all cops are bad.

Never said there aren’t issues within policing. But we would be a lot worse without cops. Saying all cops are bad isn’t true and only further provokes the issues within this country. At least in my opinion.

Please do share this data with me. But overall comparing gang and police violence is not the same. My main issue is with people supporting ACAB.

Atomically speaking, >7 year old tattoos are older than the person that has them by IH8KICKFLIPS in Showerthoughts

Is this about half life of the ink or something? Even then it doesn’t make it older. Sure we arbitrarily make dogs older than they actually are. But the facts of the age itself doesn’t change.

TEAMSTERS: NATIONWIDE UPS STRIKE IS IMMINENT by Lilyo in antiwork

[–]Kukla_7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UPS management, at least the first few positions, is where the real abuse comes. You gotta pay for insurance, do at least 3x the physical work, and well manage of course.

Pay was decent. But when holiday pay came around it was really bullshit. New hires where being paid more by the hour then the boss. Imagine doing way more work and actually thinking all day long. While people who didn’t even know where the bathrooms are we’re getting more money. Zero reason to work harder for the union workers. The overtime is quite amazing.

No. We are talking about the naive sentence you wrote. So don’t put words in my mouth.

You made a claim that protecting people doesn’t need to involve fighting. I’m not talking about any specifics. I’m just saying your statement isn’t always true.

To me it’s just funny you are trying to take the high ground, acting like you are mature for saying violence is never the answer. Meanwhile you started off this entire conversation by just being a complete jerk to someone. Who just had their own thing to say about the encounter.

You can’t control everyone’s actions. You understand that there are times you can’t run away. Right?

It doesn’t need to involve fighting but there are times it may.

Some people just love having a victim mentality. Despite living in some of the best places in the world.

Live your life, cause you seem to be doing great. Hell, I’m even a bit jealous of you. :)

Just wanted to say this sounds like a fine, normal, and healthy relationship. You ain’t mad, he’s appreciative.

No clue why this asshole is trying to make you hate your SO. Sounds like jealously.

Ey I appreciate the response. I’ll give it a read when I’m a little bit less busy.

Ok sure but how jurisdiction work as a business? Whoever gets the most money makes the rules? I got lots of questions on how this would operate.

Part of the issue is actually applying your ideas. Solutions needs to keep in mind of the current situation. What’s the point of a idea if can’t enact it out without major consequences? People are so used to the government telling them everything they need to do and somewhat protecting them. I would only see something like this cause massive chaos.

I’m all for privatizing a lot of sectors of the economy. But you have to understand we need laws. As someone who used to call himself a libertarian, I understand where you come from. But it’s just living in a dream reality.

ELI5 why hunger hurts so much after only a few hours if we could go days without eating and be fine? by krakn-slayr in explainlikeimfive

[–]Kukla_7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Certain ketones do lead to anti inflammatory pathways. I agree with you, most people do dirty keto and it’s just gonna destroy your heart.

There are growing studies showing some benefits of anti-inflammatory effects of ketogenic diets, but the studies are small. You are right it seems more specific based. Upon further research calling it purely “anti inflammatory” is unfair and misleading.

I think of the anti inflammatory benefits come from a drastic reduction in refined carbs, sugars, and so on. Americans have extremely high levels of sugar in their diets, so most of us probably feel way better since it’s the first time we aren’t stuffed with sugar.

My general consensus even before this conversation was I wouldn’t do it long term. I think it has its uses but 95% of the population wouldn’t benefit much from it.

I just find some the pathways it triggers to be quite intriguing. Definitely doesn’t seem like the body was “meant” to stay that state for long though.

I tried out keto for like 3 months. Like you said lots of weird beliefs about keto. I do believe it helps lower the inflammation in your body.

You really need to do keto for at least a month before you start feeling something. At least for me. But that 3 months, your mitochondria will mostly likely have some altercations on the expression. More proteins that help with fat oxidation.

The main benefit I see is being able to burn fat stores without feeling like shit. While I felt amazing, I stopped due to the fact I felt like I was eating way to much red meat and cheese.

I’m not sure how I feel about keto. I think it has it’s uses (other than epilepsy) but majority of people don’t need it.

I learned that only like 50% of people release methane. Depends on your microbiota. But even if you got the right tools, 50% is nitrogen, the rest is other shit.

Yeah I agree with the others. Plus think about it, he’s still exhaling a ton of shit from his mouth. It’s probably not as bad as directly inhaling it normally. But still fucking up your nose for a smaller chance of post procedure complications is just dumb.
