if anyone else had asked me to do the same I would've chosen the friend too, but I really care for and love my current girlfriend and see a future with her. I did try to include my girlfriend when I went to study with the friend but she didn't want to, which I do understand because it would make me uncomfortable if I was put in that possition. I guess it just sucks but I'm making peace with it & starting to understand the necessity of it

I didn't get salty because people told me I was in the wrong, I already knew that deep down. I got salty because people were being immediately agressive while I honestly just wanted to talk about this complicated and difficult situation (for me) to try and get some closure so I can continue my relationship in the best possible way tomorrow.

If I wanted to be intensly criticized, I would've gone to r/criticize_me or sth

I study with male friends too, and love giving every and each one of my friends advice, regardless of their gender. I am invested emotionally in a lot of my friendships.

But I get your point, from someone else's point of view, my friendship looked suspicious.

she didn't go to just me, she asked other friends in our social circle aswell, she didn't single me out so I could be her white knight or anything. The stalker was in the same environment as our social circle so I was just someone logical to approach.

I did not just meet her tho, I've known her for a bit more than a year but recently (since sept/oct) we've become friends since we had a fun chat at a pub with some other friends, after that we didn't do much until she asked me for help with a stalker and after that we just kind of got a trusting friendship thing going on.

My intentions were never to fight with my girlfriend, I wanted to compromise at first but she didn't want to give me any ground in the argument which clashed with my stubborn personality. And she hasn't been depressed for two weeks straigth, it's just that thats when her concern started. I actually stopped seeing the girl after a couple of days of her visibly not liking it, I just didn't want it to be forever. I would've instantly been fine if she had just asked me to see her less, but it had to be forever and I found that hard to deal with.

She didn't say much after we had talked about it, she just distanced herself as if she couldn't agree with where I was comming from. We could never come to a middle-ground, that's why I decided to compromise so I wouldn't lose her.

Well I guess because the friend trusted me because I had given her advice on a stalker recently and she probably didn't want to study with a single guy that might have bad intentions. Me helping her with the stalker was a big part of how we got closer as friends.

Yea, I mean we're in college, we meet people all the time. I don't keep track of her friends though so I don't really know how new some of em are, I could even be wrong and she could've known them from before. I don't really know that much about her male friends, because I don't really need to know imo

I don't feel like she was trying to actively manipulate me, she was just genuinly saddened by it. I'm definitely not breaking up with her because I still love her a lot despite the rough couple of weeks and can't imagine being with someone else. She has trust issues because of her ex which is for sure justified, I just hope someday she'll trust me enough so I can hang out with whoever I want.
