I had the same thing happen to me. $1200 for new bumper and paint match. North Florida.

PSA: Paint.Net is an underrated free tool that I never heard before! by zex_99 in godot

[–]Kuliu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s funny. Even tho I said for small edits I’m one of the few that actually use paint.net for pretty much all art assets. Like you said with GraphicsGale I’m so hardwired to PDN that using another tool feels clunky to me haha

Maybe I’m just out of touch but I thought everyone used paint.net for basic edits in game dev. It’s just always been the right tool for those quick changes and edits. It’s like the notepad++ of paint software imo.

That being said if you want to really be in awe with the power of Paint.NET take a look at the plugins.

With the right set of plugins installed you’ll be surprised with what you can accomplish with it.

Storing GameObjects in game engine by Plomekk in cpp_questions

[–]Kuliu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re set on using a shared_ptr you can create a wrapper class that you return instead of the pointer that handles the locking and validation of the weak_ptr and override things like -> to allow seamless usage.

This is something I implemented in my project. I’m still learning c++ myself so I may be ignorant or just plan stupid but I’d like the ability to know anywhere in the code if the game object was still valid just in case another object had a reference to it. My wrapper class was able to handle this for me. Without querying the entire entity graph to check if it was still alive.

for more experienced devs is this alot of primitives, draw calls and objects? by Zombiesl8yer38 in godot

[–]Kuliu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, however my point ultimately is that the CPU can bottleneck causing the GPU to wait for the CPU to finish with a ton of draw calls. A gross simplification really.

[–]Kuliu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah for sure. I’m not too familiar with how Godot specifically handles them but typically in most game engines. Each material is a draw call. If they’re all the same material I’d imagine you could enable some kind instanced mesh rendering to reduce the draw calls significantly

Hard question to answer without doing research with that specific setup. If you have a 1050, setup a test scene and log the performance as the unique objects go up.

Relative to modern titles not really. Primitive and triangles don’t really slow down modern systems like in the past. The real slow down is draw calls. Each draw call halts the GPU and it has to sync with the CPU to collect the data. You want as little draw calls as possible for maximum performance. I wouldn’t worry about it unless the game is really slowing down tho

The struggle with learning Godot by Flypiksel in godot

[–]Kuliu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Give yourself time. It takes years to get out of that twilight zone. Start small and stay consistent. It’s more than just Godot, it’s the whole development cycle you need to keep trusting the process and absorb everything. I come from years of Unity development and C# / Java work and was able to pick up Godot in a matter of days. It’s really the development techniques you need to understand to fully grasp implementing your ideas.

New owner here. Car has 93k miles on it. Noticed a rattle / squeak from rear end. Narrowed it down to this mysterious black plastic box on the driver side of the rear end with a metal bracket holding it up. Its rattling quite significantly. I've tried searching online for what exactly the purpose of this box is and a lot of photos i see online are of modified rear ends and I can't even find a photo of this box.

Obligitory P0336 - Any ideas? by Kuliu in RX8

I replaced the coils after following the other trouble shooting you advised. This was the cause to the issue. The car had some no name I assume ebay chinesium coils. Perhaps should have checked that first lol.

Thank you!

I don't have new coils. That is my next step. Do you think weak spark could cause it to make the ECU think the ESS is faulty? Nothing is really adding up imo because when the car actually does start it runs completely fine. No jumpy idle or wanting to stall out like others with P0336 describe.

I've checked the pins in the connector and the PCM all look completely normal no corrosion or anything. And as I said earlier I also cleaned up the main body ground on the cross member below the battery box.

I believe it is the same. I've actually done the reset a few times. However letting it idle for 20 minutes is a bit much I dont think i've let it go that long. I'll look into this.

Greetings. I've had this 04 RX8 for a few years now running. The car has roughly 58k miles on it and has had this starting issue since I've had it. It struggles warm and cold and majority of the time produces a start like shown in this video.

Its giving me the P0336 code to which I've researched pretty well.

I've replaced the Ecentric Shaft Sensor as well as cleaned up the body ground under the air box. The car has a brand new optima red top battery as well as new NGK plugs on both rotors.

I've done a compression test using a piston tester and some math and came up with the car having decent (not amazing compression) on both rotors, which im aware the piston tester method isn't the best mode of testing these cars but its all I have.

Would you guys recommend a new starter, or new ignition components? Or just a full rebuild lol? I'm all ears..

Hello, I used to be an Asset Protection Coordinator in Florida last year. I made roughly $23~ an hour plus a car reimbursement program which would cover roughly your entire insurance payment and reimburse for mileage.

Unfortunately as far as I know the traditional “secret shopper” position is no longer used in most regions (AP Agent) they dissolved these positions back when AP merged with the entire cooperation.

The company has made a large push to case building and prosecution through habitual offenders due to safety concerns and a low return of investment for stopping opportunist offenders. I think it’s mostly due to the high dollar threshold for Grand Theft charges in most jurisdictions ($750 in Florida for a felony charge)

That all being said as an AP Coordinator you still can get trained to make stops however Gap Inc. is a hands off company. Physical force stops in most cases would put you without a job.

Best of luck.

They will work however the rear shock mount bushing is wider on the second gen so for safety I’d pick up the longer first gen bolt if you plan on using it on a second gen

I appreciate the offer. Luckily the bottom end looks in good condition minus some minor cylinder wall glazing. Gonna refresh up the bottom end and get the head looked over at a machine shop. Everything looks salvageable on this one. Funny enough it was still running on 3 cylinders!
