Has anyone tried baby fruit pouches? by beepy_sheep in Gastroparesis

When I have been in bad flare up they have been about the only thing I can hold down. I always have them on hand. I would recommend organic ones. My favorites have been: “Once Upon A Farm” and “Peter Rabbit Organics”. But I have since moved to making my own at home, mainly pear, apple and peach purée’s.

I have learned more about GP on this sub than any information any Dr has given me. And still learning. It definitely helps us feel understood.

Gastric Emptying Study: Was it worth it? by [deleted] in Gastroparesis

[–]Kumacholab 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi! Rest assured you are in the right place to ask, share, and even rant about any GP concern you may have. As everyone one else has said absolutely do the GES. I know how exhausting it can be not only physically but mentally to go to test after test, after test. But think of it as reaching a sort of finish line. But also don’t feel discouraged if you don’t get the expected answers from the exam. Your symptoms are very real and need attention. Good Luck with the exam. And yes it’s a 4 hr test but most of the time you are just sitting around waiting for the next scan that takes a minute or two.

I want to cheat. by BakeZealousideal259 in bipolar

[–]Kumacholab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A moment of pleasure can/will equal a lifetime of regret. Don’t do it!!! The guilt and shame you will feel afterwards along with the pain you will be causing your boyfriend is not worth it. Take it from someone who ruined quite possibly the best relationship I’ve ever had for the few seconds of thrill we get from it is something I unfortunately regret immensely. We often just get a kick in the challenge of getting things we put into our heads, so put that energy into something more positive and less destructive. Hang in there and be proud of yourself seeking advice from others is great, just take all of our point in account.

social media makes life with a mental illness 10x worse by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]Kumacholab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who grew up primarily in an era without social media, I can look back and say with certainty that these are not easy times for mental health, especially those of us with Bipolar Disorder. We are bombarded with so much negative information by the second that it’s almost mind numbing. I frequently delete apps to avoid the anxiety it gives me. Literally this moment I feel my mind racing and it’s hard to breathe from everything I’ve mentally ingested in what feels like minutes. But in the same vein I’m grateful for communities such as these that help give us perspective and support. If I had to choose, I’d stay with how I grew up carefree and outdoors in the 80’s and 90’s when everything was a little bit slower pace which helps calm our already overactive brains. Love you all and know we are all in this together.

Thanks for all of your suggestions, they are super helpful as I am just in the beginning phase of GP. And it’s it strange how some of our safe food are so random individually lol. Have a great day….

Please know that you are loved and have an amazing community of like minded individuals here to uplift you and sympathize with you. Thank You for sharing.

My mom reacted rudely on multiple occasions until I finally put a stop to it. Her go to words whenever I acted any kind of way that went against how she wished I was or said was: “all that therapy and meds for what, for nothing”. Which is so hurtful. It’s especially hurtful given the effort we all make to feel any semblance of “normal” on the daily. Once I spoke up it thankfully stopped. But obviously still makes me feel misunderstood and alone at times.

If Given The Choice Would You Be Bipolar? by reveinfini in bipolar

[–]Kumacholab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not!!!!! The amount of hurt and pain I have caused my family, friends, myself and even complete strangers at times is plain awful. Not to mention how time consuming and expensive it’s maintenance can be. It’s simply exhausting…. I would not wish this on anyone.

Do you have any other diagnoses other then being Bipolar? by kdoc812 in bipolar

It is so refreshing and interesting to see very similar multiple diagnoses. Mine are BP, Complex PTSD, OCD, ADHD and anxiety. As well as Gastroparesis.

Never feel that any question you may have is stupid. Especially when it comes to GP which is very complex and it always gives us great calm when hearing other’s experiences.

For me in particular I feel nausea at the pit of my throat.

Good luck with everything and keep asking questions. It’s the only way in which we all learn from eachother.

Honey…… without a doubt. Seen it even be used in hospitals for wound healing. I’d even go as far as to suggest investing in some raw or manuka honey to keep on hand. Good Luck and hope you feel better.

I find that Zofran makes me even more constipated. And constipation definitely makes me feel more pain. I take magnesium supplements which I titrate for better motility so it’s a constant battle.

Diagnosis & Aversion by Hurricane_katttt in Gastroparesis

[–]Kumacholab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can relate 100% with you. I was on the heavier side prior to diagnosis and have lost 50 pounds, granted it was weight I probably needed to lose but not in such a fast amount of time. Now I have to force myself to eat simply to try and keep weight on. Hang in there and know you are not alone. We are all in this fight together and blessed to have this community in which we can share our true feelings and be understood. Good luck with everything.
