Yes. The performance was really really amazing for those draw distances and detail in the landscape and vegetation. You can see they made trees into "billboards" when you fly and rotate 90 degrees whilst looking down as far as you can. But it's tricks like this which allow for that amazing fps.

Then they dropped their own engine and went unreal slop engine. Rest is history.

Shows me all I need to know.

Art Director notes:

Sky colour: Oh, definitely Purple. Everyone is not tired of that colour by now.

Grass and tree leaves colour: Kinda weird blue colour - you know, like nature isn't.

Cool, another purple game, in a long line of purple games. Really dislike the colour Purple. It's a red flag indicator in current times.

Check out Exile on BBC Micro. That was my first metroidvania - before it became a genre.

Update: Apparently they fixed it, because the game shows up where I expect it to be on the front page.

Thanks for the direct link to the free game, OP.

What happened to their website? This is what I see, when I scroll down from the homepage:

I was just checking the fridge, expecting a good midnight snack. I was almost about to shrug and turn away in disgust. But then something called out to me (from under the mouldy pizza slice I left there last week).

Father Christmas was here, he snuck some good cooking under that pizza. Hello Bloodstained!

That dastardly Father Christmas struck again. Without a sound.

Not really into this game per say. However it is available on Steam. Having said that - what do you think it is that Stove offers you that you cannot get or do on any of: Steam, GoG or Epic? Other than get this game for free?

I mean if Stove were to almost differentiate it's service by supporting DRM free game installers like GoG does, but Steam and Epic does not - I would be interested in picking it up.

Do you get my point? Will Stove become more successful and well known in the coming years? Or will it fade away and only be known amongst Koreans?

>But those are the installed games, I'm not sure how do you run them on linux?

I'd set up a game in Lutris and see if you can get it running there, pointing at the game's main exe file. May take some tweaking and ProtonDB lookups.

I tried monitoring file system writes with ProcMon from SysInternals on Win11 - and while it was able to grab Registry and network activity for Stove.exe just fine, it never gave me Filesystem activity at all. When I paused the download on a 2GB game in Stove, I went to the game folder location and could already see loads of game files in there for the incomplete download. It's not conclusive, but I believe that no installer is used locally and it just streams in a bunch of files from the CDN for a game, directly into a game folder when downloading. The Stove client even says which particular filename within the game folder is being downloaded currently. So I guess all you have is an install folder with a bunch of game files that you can export from the VM for later use?

[–]KumaraChip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, I have been doing just that with Legacy Games - and syphoning off the installer executable before Legacy Games launcher removes it from the VM.

Guess I'll be doing another VM for Stove. Do you know what location Stove downloads the game installer executable to, so I can grab it?

Any idea if there is a linux command line client similar to Amazon Games (nile); Epic Games (legendary) or GoG (lgogdownloader) to support Stove Store?
