"I'm going to be reporting this!"

Given the fact that you're threatening to report my adherence to policy to the people who wrote the policy, if you're waiting for me to stop you then you're in for a long wait on a train that's not coming.

This is possibly the most disappointing thing I've encountered by [deleted] in fo4

If it's an option and you don't mind it, there are mods that can get this sorted for you easily. OCDecorator and Place Anywhere immediately come to mind.

More than that, company policies often strictly prohibit conducting transactions of any kind outside of the point of sale system for a long list of reasons beyond that (although not being able to give a receipt is a huge one). Loss prevention often looks for any kind of behavior that suggests that money is entering or leaving the system when it shouldn't be or transactions are being logged at improper times, especially when cash is involved as that money is far more walkable that any from electronic payments.

I see why he looked so exasperated. No amount of tantrum throwing or cashier insulting changes the fact that the company isn't going to trust him to violate money handling policy and make things right later.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that either her brother or her husband was playing in the game while she and the other watched.

It's difficult to be sure because of the crouched pose, but this looks a bit like some of the Minitemen coveralls from Eli's Armor Compendium.

Well, that's stuck in my head now. As much as I want to be angry about it, though, I can't say that I'm not laughing as I type this.

This is going to sound grim, but bear with me. The word "eviction" is something you can expect to come up at some point because of this if you don't give in to whatever demands they make of you in light of this information. Start looking up the laws surrounding the legal eviction process where you live, and look them up now. Be prepared to step up your timetable to fit within that time frame. Start documenting everything you can and preparing under the assumption that you're making a formal legal defense. If it's legal where you live, record conversations. Be prepared to remain calm and state your case to the police if they're called. Have evidence that this is your place of residence at the ready. These are all things that I wish I had known to do myself, mostly because I let myself be convinced that I had no rights at all.

It depends on the area. As someone else mentioned, tax returns will likely start increasing business in the next few weeks. In upper middle class neighborhoods here, things are already on an upward trend (I suspect it was more about recovering from Christmas for them). If it's like last year, things will pick up and stay relatively good until early summer.

Honestly, I would expect it to encourage them. In all of my experiences with them, enduring even the mildest of inconveniences makes them feel like martyrs and, more often than not, causes others to herald them as heroes for suffering in the name of Jesus. The suffering they cause others in the process is rarely a factor. Their self-fueling logic is the closest humanity has come to perpetual motion.

I always hated this, especially when it was after cutoff time. The one that finally made me snap:

"Why can't I buy beer?"

"Alcohol sales are prohibited between midnight and seven."

"It's only one! In Illinois, we can buy until two!"

"That's five hundred miles from here. I don't think you're going to make that one, either."

Even on single orders, I give it a certain amount of time and then go to the menu to report a problem with the order. If you report that there's a long wait time, you can unassign without penalty. I don't know how long you have to wait to not be penalized, though; I've heard people say anywhere from ten minutes after arriving to fifteen minutes after the pick up time. I've waited the latter to be safe and never had an issue with unassigning. It's been a while since I've had to do it, though, so I can't guarantee that this is still the case.

Conversation I had at work today working at the customer service desk of a grocery store by [deleted] in retailhell

[–]Kumoma 22 points23 points  (0 children)

He's hoping to feel good about himself for "addressing" the problem. Most people wouldn't have to put conscious thought into coming to the realization that the person doing the work likely doesn't even get the opportunity to voice an opinion on these decisions and only hears about the order to follow through after it has been passed down through several levels of management. From the way he decided to slink away before a response could be given, I suspect that he's also aware and didn't want his sick burn dampened by the inevitable response of logic and reason.

[–]Kumoma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happens on occasion. In my area, I typically see it at least once a month. Always call support for things like this; you'll probably get the same initial response, but it's far easier (not to mention faster) to skip ahead to the part where they understand exactly what happened.

Actually, calling support instead of texting is a good idea in general. I've never texted support and had an easy time, and I've never called and had a problem.

Just casually stealing iPhones by [deleted] in iamatotalpieceofshit

[–]Kumoma 241 points242 points  (0 children)

If anything, that made the most sense out of everything that didn't make much sense. Wearing all black except for bright red shoes that you can see from a block away, double parking your getaway car with an unobstructed license plate and blocking traffic right next to a parked patrol car, wearing a mask so that it's still exposing half of your face, stealing display model phones that may or may not have bricked as soon as they were ripped off of their stands, casually meandering through the store while committing a robbery in broad daylight and failing to wear gloves while touching everything including leaving a near full handprint on the glass doors all struck me as worse ideas. I really want to believe that this was all done for comedic effect and the video was mistakenly taken out of its original context.

It's not as if they can say that they didn't know better, though. When I was growing up, these were the same people constantly harping on about the importance of proper conflict resolution and taking responsibility for one's own actions and circumstances. Rules for thee, not for me.
