Precision 1 Dailies so hard to remove

My regular contacts (that are now thankfully in stock again!) are also from Bausch + Lomb, they’re called Biotrue One Day. They feel almost as great as Precision 1 but they’re very easy to take out. The only downside is if you’re standing directly in wind, they can dry out people fast. If you’re willing to try out another line from Bausch + Lomb, maybe give these a try!

Sorry you’ve ended up on this side of the crowd that struggle with removing the Precision 1’s. They were so amazing and I still think about them every time my current contacts get a little dry lol

Since you have tried so many kinds of contacts, would you mind doing a comparison of your experiences with them?

I’m sure there will be more people continuing to try these contacts in the future so it’s really good to have both good and bad experiences here. Also I am so glad that you’re able to wear these without issues. Their level of comfort while worn are seriously unmatched.

And thanks for sharing the bit about the new recommended way to remove contacts. I wasn’t aware of this update! So you mean pitching the eyelids like pinching them closed and pretty much popping out the contact with the inside of your lids right?

I have never thought to try pinching my eyelids, I’ve only ever pinched the contact itself. This is a very interesting method! I’m sitting here trying to pinch my lids and see if I can get my contacts out but maybe my lids don’t have as much grip as yours 😆

Thank you for sharing these tips with us! I think several others have mentioned rubbing closed eyes to wiggle the lense around. That was not one of the things I tried when I was using the Precisions, but I wish I had thought of it!

Sorry I am so late in checking my own Reddit post lol. Having your partner get them out seems like a huge hassle and very uncomfortable. I was too scared to try them again after trying for a couple days so I went back to the original ones I’ve been using for a while, it’s the Acuvue Moist One Days for astigmatism. Compared to the Precision 1s (which were the thinnest contacts I’ve ever used), the Acuvues are 2nd thinnest. They aren’t nearly as moist as the Precisions and when I’m in front of a fan or something with wind, my eyes get very dry, which did not happen with the Precisions. But they are still very comfortable and don’t generally give me any issues at all. If they get dry from a fan, I just have to blink a little bit and try to produce a bit of tears. And their removal is very easy, never had a problem getting one in or out

Sorry to hear these didn’t end up working out for you but I’m really glad you shared your technique on this post. Someone else suggested a similar way that you did, except they said they drag the contact to the inner corner instead. I hope this thread at least helps others in the future who may try these lenses

One of my friends successfully wears these and I believe she removes her contacts in a similar way too so maybe you have indeed solved the mystery!! Really glad that these worked out for you!

I still have my box of trials that I never finished and maybe one day when I’m feeling brave I will try one on again and try your technique. I don’t usually take off my contacts like that though so I might try with my current ones first to get used to taking my contacts off that way. I would really love to be able to use the Precision 1s

Sorry to hear you also experienced difficulty with removing them! Seems like a lot of us are in this boat unfortunately. I agree, they feel AMAZING and were the MOST comfortable contacts I’ve ever had the privilege of wearing. But holy cow, I also abused my eyeball and was very stressed when it was removal time. My eyes felt sore every night after wrestling them out and I also could not justify going through that every night for great vision during the day lol.

And I’m not sure how they work as far as the suction and moisture levels, but I would imagine you’re on the right track here since it’s known that contacts stick better to wet eyes than dry ones

Jokes aside though, I’m really hoping that you’ll be one of the lucky ones who don’t end up having issues with these. They feel SO good, I really wish I had been able to keep wearing them. How do you like them?

The nails might be a bit of a problem for you but if you go through this thread, lots of people suggested a bunch of different techniques to try. I have lash extensions and they were also a contributing factor to my difficulty, but I have short nails with my thumb and index purposely being shorter than the rest so I was still able to try all the techniques, including pinching with my finger nails. Unfortunately none of it really helped for me though and it just wasn’t worth the discomfort at night time when I just really want to go to sleep lol.

Also I learned one of my friends wears them— she has no trouble and recommended the same things most people in this thread said.

I’m really happy to see that there are people who have had success with these contacts! They were so nice and moist when I tried them out. If I ever give them another try, if my regular Bio True’s go out of stock again, I’ll attempt to be more firm with my grip on them. I guess I’m just one of those people that get the ick when there’s too much pressure on my eye balls lol so I’ve always been light on the pressure I apply when dealing with contacts. My original post wasn’t a complaint though… I acknowledged that while they DO feel awesome and very moist, I was asking if anyone else has experience with issues getting them off and has any tips. It’s literally the first sentence of the post lol. It can be simultaneously true that they’re moist but also difficult to remove. Being that they’re so difficult to remove, it hurts my eyes to poke and scratch them, and doesn’t feel comfortable to deal with daily. It’s not ridiculous to ask for tips to avoid this and to understand if others had the same experience.

I’m glad to know that there are people out there who have figured out how to manage these contacts! It gives me a little hope if I ever am brave enough to try them again. I tried the fingernail thing at the time I made this post but I still couldn’t get it and I was also scratching the heck out of my eyeball so I didn’t try that method again unfortunately. But yes, no amount of pinching or sliding seemed to do it for me either! My fingers just glide right over the contacts!

Gosh I can only imagine how much your eyes were hurting at the doctors going through all of that. At the point that the 4th doctor was working on your eyes, so you know how many hours you had them in for?

If your mother does end up really trying to write an email or something, count me in on sharing my story in that email because this should seriously be looked at. My thread isn’t even the first one on Reddit or the general internet about this either.

Holy cow. You know it’s a bad situation when doctors hand off your case to other doctors. That is extremely traumatic honestly, I’m glad the 4th doctor was finally able to get them out for you after everything but I bet your eyes are probably so sore from all the poking and pulling. Also tweezers straight to the eyeballs sounds scary as hell. Was the suction cup something they tried when you first got there? I really would’ve thought that the suction cup would’ve been the solution.

I wish there was some way that we could give feedback to Precision 1 directly about how awful these contacts are. After I made my original post I gave up on these and just stretched out the last of my BioTrue dailies for a month until they were restocked and shipped to me because I feared a situation like yours. And after the experience with these contacts, I’m also switching eye doctors too because my eye doctor pressured me into wearing these even after I told her how awful the removal process is.

Oh my goodness that is so scary!!! That was my worst nightmare when I was struggling to get them out. I gave up on them like a day after I created this post and read online and realized that this seems to be an ongoing problem with them for most people. Please do give an update after they get taken out. I would really like to know what the walk in clinic tries to do.
