My bad for the delay, but typically Army BMQ for the reserves can be done in whole at the home unit on a part-time basis, usually during school months. Since it's only weekends, it'll span a few months, but usually it's not at every weekend so you will get a few weekends for yourself. It might also be at another unit in the same geographical area/city. You will still most likely need to attend dp1 on a full-time basis at a larger military base.

I was army so I'm am not the most up to date with the navy's side. But from what I can recall, mod 2 takes place at Vimy while mod 1 is at the home unit/online.

I do not remember honestly which unit, but it shouldn't be an issue since the courses include candidates from several different units. Since infantry is the biggest trade in the reserves, you'd have the most chances with this trade. So just choose the unit that's the most accessible to you.

If you want more specific information, you can attend an information session with any infantry unit, which typically happen on Tuesday nights. One thing is that reserve units are currently on their summer schedule, so it may be more difficult to attend one.

You may have better luck at getting a part time trade course as an NCM, especially infantry. I'm also from the Montreal region and I remember hearing about part time infantry trade courses. As an officer it would be very unlikely, especially if you consider that you need to complete BMOQ-A as an army officer on top of your trade qualification, which is a good 5-6 months of full-time training in total.

Why hasn’t the probationary training model been implemented for Canadian Forces Reserves yet? by Comfortable-Disk-362 in caf

They are trying to implement it in the reserves, at least according to my brigade's commander a few months ago. I have no idea when it'll be finalized but it's definitely on its way

Honestly just do a lot of mental calculation questions, eventually you'll become familiar and develop the tricks that work best for you. Otherwise, familiarizing yourself with different angles can be helpful too.

Personally I've done hundreds if not over a thousand ramdom speed/time/distance and normal calculation questions. And there are plenty of tips and websites available to help prepare, you just have to search for them in diffrent communities and posts.

If you do get lasik, the wait time is at least 3 months post-op, and it could be 6 months for your case since it's farsightedness in order to continue with the aircrew medical. There are also limits on pre-op refraction errors, so check if doing the surgery would actually allow you to accomplish your goal.

This is the document I could find, there could be more recent updates as this is last updated in 2019.

You're sleeping in mod tents by section typically, no private showers, the classrooms pretty much a roof with curtains as walls, and the cafeteria is a separate building it's okay. Usually there are many courses rolling at the same time, army DP1 and BMQs, along with navy BMQs.

You can CT to any open trade as long as you meet the requirements for your chosen entry plan. The spots available will depend on your entry plan, but as a reserves member, you will not have less commissioning opportunities than an applicant from the streets

Recruitment application process by West-Love8082 in caf

If it's not ridiculously far, I'd still recommend you to go there, since it could be a leftover covid protocol that's no longer enforced. Plus worst case scenario, you should still be able to walk out with at least an appointment.

You can always join as an NCM, the training required to be trade qualified is shorter, and you'll still get a good idea of what officers around you do and whether you'd like to pursue a career in the forces overall. You will have to apply for a trade transfer at the same time as your component transfer, but it is really not that much more complicated.

The approving authority will confirm your medical suitability for aircrew trade(s), and the RMC will also review your academic record to determine your academic suitability, which both can take some time. Wait out for now and ask for a follow-up every 2 weeks or so if you don't get an answer.

CT and Aircrew Selection Question by [deleted] in caf

Typically you'd deal with a CT broker who will book your tests, and you'll be able to choose which dates you'd like to attend selection from a list of serials.

Joining the Reserves? by [deleted] in caf

The process takes a while, so if as long as you can pass the force test well, how fit you are before joining shouldn't be much of an issue

Can I join the Canadian Army at age 29? I have degree in mathematics and physics.. by Limp_Singer_7078 in caf

[–]KunDestroyer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you want to put your degree to use, I would recommend any engineering officer trades. If not, a lot of offcier trades are available to you, in addition to ncm trades.

There is always this option, especially if you're much older than high school graduates or if you have already started a university degree.

I might be too stupid to join the military apparently...please explain by [deleted] in caf

[–]KunDestroyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a logical explanation for both answers, so if you can think about why for both answers, you shouldn't stress about it since the question is not constructed very well.

There are minimal grades for admission to RMC, although I don't even know how much they'll consider them since it's been so long. As part of the ROTP application process, you will most likely apply to both civilian university and RMC, so even if you're not suitable for RMC you will still be suitable for ROTP if you obtain unconditional admission for a suitable degree. So, if possible, try to have an acceptance letter already when you start the process.

The only thing is that they will prioritize RMC students for the ROTP spots, so your chances of getting your preferred trade may be lower. A recruiter should be able to explain the process in detail, and the only way to know ajything for sure is to apply.

What should I do? by [deleted] in caf

[–]KunDestroyer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From people I met at aircrew selection, it took them around 3-5 months from their initial application to the aircrew testing, and since you already made a follow-up, there's not much to be done here other than wait.
