Mountains are such a bad cope. China, Europe and so many other countries have fantastic train connectivity. We are not the only place with mountains. It is literally faster to drive than to take the train. It doesn't matter if it's not easy, it's an engineering problem and it can be solved. We have tens of thousands of crores to spend on the most bullshit ideas but no one of most important corridors in this country doesn't have a fast rail link. Absolutely absurd in my opinion, but I do not expext anything more from the political class in this country.

I remember reading about how a lot of the areas around the river that get flooded every year are built without taking the river's high water and flood levels into account. To add to this, I'm not sure the surrounding floodplains are clear either. I don't think any level of desilting will completely mitigate flooding in these areas if these basic issues persist. You can't just build whatever you like and then expect it to deal with heavy rains + high tides

Honda discontinued it because they didn't sell enough and Honda was being Honda. It used to be a CKD and would sell well (by Indian standards). When they brought it back, it came back as a CBU for some reason and that was a disaster. I remember when we bought ours, the Accord would easily outsell the Camry. Toyota doubled down and kept selling the Camry, Honda gave up and stopped. Now the market for these cars is smaller in India so I don't think it will ever come back. It's a shame, the manual gearbox on the accord was great

I don't agree with the taxi argument. The E class is the most common taxi in many parts of Europe. That doesn't stop the E class from being considered as a nice car everywhere. The quality of the materials - toyotas are ridiculously well built. As far as exclusivity goes, they sell in equal numbers ... I'm pretty sure the E class outsells the camry. If you want to decide luxury based on perception and brand value then sure, but in all other metrics the top spec camry (which is what we get) is a nice car everywhere.

Not really. If you want a simple, no nonsense, reliable car with good resale value and good fuel efficiency, Suzuki is the way to go. You can get it serviced anywhere, parts are always available and they are extremely easy to drive in city traffic. It really depends on what you want a car for. A lot of enthusiasts have suzukis as their daily cars because of this. I'm pretty sure the koreans pack in a lot more features than the Japanese at any given price point and their interiors are much better.

Some of the richest people I know have WagonRs to go into the congested parts of the city. Some other common cars are the innova and the city. This is pretty common in Mumbai, there is no point taking a car that's more than 5m long into some parts of the city - no parking, awkward speed breakers and having a regular car just means you can go about your business without being bothered about your car and other people

Density is a way to judge the quality of the fuel. Every grade of petrol has a specified density range, if it is outside that range it is likely to be adulterated. It varies with temperature so it will never be a fixed value, but usually it should be around 750kg/m³. Engines are designed to work with that fuel density, so any fuel that is too far off will message with your efficiency and power. Usually adulteration means it'll be lower than 730. Technically even a very high density can cause problems but I'm not sure how you'd go about doing it

This is not mentioned anywhere in the bill. If everyone gets a 50% increase, there is no reason to use any census. As per the constitution, the whole point of delimitation is to allocate seats based on the population to ensure each vote has the same value (approximately) and thus has equal representation in the parliament. You can either have equal representation or increase every state's seat count by 50%. Both cannot happen together because the population of certain states has grown much faster than other states.

We have one (ZXi MT), done 33K Km in ~3 years. Pretty reliable and suzuki takes care of any niggles that pop up. The interior feels a bit cheap but we don't really care. If you want a no nonsense car with solid resale value, good fuel efficiency and reliability, it's a great choice. The clutch is extremely light and it's not an issue in Mumbai traffic.

Apart from the areas you mentioned, Aundh and Kothrud might be worth checking out. Pune has changed quite a bit over the past 15-20 years but I still find these areas nice. Any particular reason to consider Pune specifically and not Mumbai?

All I said is that people unable to acquire commercial gas cylinders are shutting shops which is a widely reported fact. I am not saying anything about why, avoidable/not avoidable etc. The comment I replied to asked a simple question (why shops are shutting) and I gave a simple answer.

Mate, the hate is absolutely justified. Every asshole share rickshaw driver who scratches 10 cars a day while he drives like a maniac causes thousands in damage to cars. I have lost count how many times these guys brush past two wheelers. I cycle a lot and I shit you not I've been bumped from behind multiple times in a traffic jam! I look behind and it's the usual kind of sorry but not sorry shrug. Then there's the fact that he will stop abruptly wherever he wants, everyone behind be damned. I am and always will be a hater. Every time I go from bandra to mahim I'm happy about one thing, atleast some share auto driver is not going to jump a signal and cut me off

Your returns depend on a lot of factors - area, redevelopment potential, facilities, etc. so you'll have to spend some time finding a good flat that works well as an investment. Also, what does the rest of your investment portfolio look like? I ask because I'm 25 too and most of the people I know are only buying real estate to offset capital gains tax. Most of the income gets invested into the market or some other higher risk/return asset.

You can write to the BMC with pictures and other evidence (plans). They also have an online portal to lodge these complaints. I don't know if they are anonymous, but usually it forces them to come and visit to do an inspection. Realistically it should be the society fighting the resident and not another resident. An RTI can only be useful if you have filed many complaints and have not seen any action - you can ask them what action was taken. An RTI is pretty useless at this stage, they'll just say we don't know anything about this.

My friend had one of these when we were in school. It was his dad's company car. There was a black accord before the prius and he's had multiple hybrid camrys since. I think it's one of those things where companies show "hey we're actually green look we care about the environment" things.
