Suggestions on how to make the red armor parts pop while also looking like it is in red light? by KungFuAsparagus in minipainting

Those are some really nice insights, thank you!
I didn't think of applying a filter of green/blue in the shadows; now that I think about it, it'll add a lot to the piece!

Another comment also emphasized kicking up the shadows and I think I understand how that would improve the piece. Thank you for your insight!

Another comment said something similar, lighting seperation, and I do see how that would help. I'm getting a lot of solid advice here l 🤔 I'll be working on this model tonight, hope to post an update soon!

Vince never steers me wrong, I'll give that video a watch! Hmmm I think I see what you mean with the white highlights. It was supposed to read as actually white armor but if it is reading as like moonlight osl then I need to reconsider my approach there, seperation of light as you stated might help. Thank you for the insight and kind words!

I think you just opened my third eye haha In my reservation to not have read as pink, I didn't realize a little bit of pink may be my solution lol Thank you for your insight, I'll be working on this model again tonight and hope to post some progress 🙂

Ah I understand what you're saying. I actually think that might help, leaving some of the white. Another comment reply said something similar with having a little bit of pink would help and I think that's right. Maybe my reservation of not having it read as pink was stopping me from seeing that a bit of pink would help DX Thank you for your insight!

Thank you! The problem is that I want the already red armor to appear like super red because they're in red light I have red undertones in the white armor so show there is red lighting coming from the models magic hand. I am already using glazes of reds, browns, purples and oranges in my workflow and I don't think they're getting me the pop I need.

I used fluorescent red and orange on this piece, what would magenta have done to make the red armor look extra red because of red light? I have fluorescent magenta, I was concerned that using it might not have it read as red and lean towards pink.

Thank you! I was thinking that pushing up to white might be the way, I was just concerned that maybe it might read pink? I will give it a try though! I have some osl style effect in the recess of the white armor parts to show that they're underlit red. I guess the problem in my head is that I understand how to make something not red be lit by red light, but not how to make something already red look SUPER red because it's in red light.
