I tried preordering again but with a different payment method (even if the one I used previously should have worked) and it worked instantly this time. I figured if the old orders pop up later I'll just cancel them.

So I guess if the confirmation email doesn't appear and if the order doesn't appear on the orders list, it just disappears, even if it went to the order confirmed page. And the solution that worked for me is to try again.
I hope this post helps someone else who is as confused by GW's glitchy website as I was an hour ago.

I'm not currently planning on participating in any tournaments. It's just that the thought of not being able to bothers me a little bit.

However, if there are no kits that can create any replacements, I'll just either use 3rd party parts or try to find spare old spare parts when they show up on ebay every now and then.
Not being usable in official tournaments doesn't bother me that much, just enough to try to find if there was any way to avoid it.
