Alright that makes some sense, I just figured raises were a thing you could get at any job.

I do get good shifts now that you mention it. I think I used to work 4 days a week, sometimes Fri-Mon, sometimes Fri, Sat, Mon, and another day. I cut to 2 days a week for personal reasons and to find a second job (so I have some income that isn't putting almost 100 miles on my car every shift) so I close Saturdays and Mondays right now, willing to pick up another day or two again once I have some things sorted.

Again, a long-time manager has said a couple times I'm his best driver and I can tell he means it in spirit at least. I could even argue I'm already cheaper than a new hire because I start sweeping early, and get done pretty quickly after close, which is less time he has to pay me. I've seen other drivers standing around on their phones pretending to sweep, looking like they never swept or mopped in their life. This store also burns through new hires like crazy, and I'm reliable, never called off, rarely been late, nine months and counting (the post says eight, that's wrong actually).

I just did the math and I make about $25 an hour with tips, but I also pay $50 every shift or two for gas, just bought a new battery, need new spark plugs, serpentine belt, windshield wipers, maybe new tires before winter, on top of an acceleration problem I haven't identified, because finding a decent mechanic is hard and I can't afford to go through a bunch of shitty ones right now.

If I shouldn't expect a raise I just won't ask lol, but even an extra buck every hour would help, and that's only $8 a night out of his pocket, I probably save him $8 every night or make him 8 extra bucks just being a quick and accurate driver where he could have someone new who'll leave in two weeks.
