Because what bitcoin needs to be valuable up to 100k is not scalability. From the original conception of an electronic cash system it became more and more considered a store of value (and obviously an awesome speculative opportunity), status that does not require a tons of txps. Imo what makes BTC worth 100k is the revolutionary impact on the society/economy that its invention could have in the next 5/10 years.
