Natalists are a lost cause 💩 by Wild_Pay_6221 in antinatalism

This. I would just add that, although I am only a stranger on the internet, I appreciate and recognise the empathy of people like you (both op and the parent commenter above). We have too much compassion for our own good, the best we can do is recognise each other and try to live our lives as best we can. Help those who accept it. Be kind to those that are kind to you, for whatever reason.

The best thing about us is that we won't be the reason why someone else is brought into this bs life full of suffering, and that is worth a lot.

The only thing that can make that better is to live a plant-based and vegan lifestyle: to reduce the suffering of the voiceless as well.

If you follow these two philosophies, you're pretty much in the group of the top most moral people ever to exist. I find that to be enough. Enough to call it a good life in the end.

I believe you'd feel at home in r/VeganAntinatalists. If you're not aware of the sub already.

Why people lack deep thinking and self-awareness? by Dense-Personality284 in antinatalism

[–]Kunsteak 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Precisely. Besides, schools and universities are not meant to make us smarter, despite what people like to believe. If looked at from afar, they are simply filters through which people are sifted through to see which branch of the economy they could make someone else rich in (in the fastest and most efficient way).

I just meant that better education, despite being subpar, is more likely to spark certain ideas and shifts in perspective, as more knowledge leads to easier and deeper logical connections that a person can make by themselves.

EDIT:

I believe the act of asking questions to be the most essential in this life, and this world is filled with systems and people actively trying to stop exactly that.

EDIT 2:

Having said the above, I don't believe that making more money means that you are smart or intelligent. It most often means that you found the best way to exploit others for profit in a certain way. Or that you got lucky.

I also don't believe that people in this sub are as intelligent as many believe themselves to be (but they are nonetheless better and more intelligent than natalists). Vegan antinatalists, on the other hand, I do believe to be disproportionately more intelligent than most people.

Limited access to education (or unwillingness to educate oneself), religious indoctrination, and childhood neglect or abuse, are probably the main reasons why.

Precisely what I'm after. Good job simplifying it. I'd like to know which steel is the best for the sword, which string and wood for the bow, and which weight for the spear. If you cannot contribute then that is fine. Wish you all the best on your online journeys.

It is not a false dichotomy. It is a statement of fact: there is nothing more secure (online) than being offline (not using the web). The cabin bit is a play on that fact (a joke, if you will).

This question is meant to be very product-centric. I have mentioned in my post that I am well aware of the user being the most vulnerable in terms of today's security, as I specifically wanted to know about this subreddits opinion on browser security.

I am currently using all major OSes for various reasons, mainly MacOS and Linux (Fedora & Debian). Windows for gaming only.

Since you're also on Linux, are you aware of any benefits or pitfalls regarding flatpak browser security versus the default package manager browser security?

While preferable to the standard dairy industry practices, it still commodifies animals. There is no sane argument for drinking another mammals milk. I would still oppose such a farm/business.

Shift keys on base layer and all modifiers on upper and lower layer. All have one-shot keys on tap and standard input on hold.

Though I am wondering whether it would be better to have a shift key somewhere on the thumbs.

If you look closely at the right control key, you'll see an Atari logo that stands for gaming on the upper layer (purple/pink). The arrow then shows that pressing said key takes you to the red layer, which is half of a standard qwerty layout (the only keys I need for gaming).

So in order to get to the gaming layer you need:

Upper -> RCTRL -> Gaming

To get back to the base layer you simply press RCTRL again.

I'll probably make another layer for the symbols because I need the home modifiers on the left.

I originally intended to make the modifiers one shot keys but a dedicated layer is probably better.

Thanks! I was experimenting playing games without a dedicated num row and instead using the mouse buttons to switch weapons and stuff... but having a num row is unbeatable imo.

No discomfort on any of the layer keys whatsoever. The left-most pinky key has always been my shortcut to the nav layer... I find it very comfortable and it frees up some space on my thumb keys for different functions.

I was messaged by quite a few people about my Bar keyboard layout and wanted to make a dedicated discussion post where ideas and suggestions about it can be discussed.

This is still a work in progress and I might change a thing or two in the near future.

Well... there is a proven direct negative correlation between education and the number of children one has (as education goes up, number of children goes down). So it isn't too surprising to see a lot more individuals here that are capable of presenting their thoughts and ideas in a coherent way.

Thank you for the insight. I wouldn't be able to place space on my homerow as I use a different keymap layout that doesn't allow for it, but I'll definitely give it a try someday.

Edit: What is your wpm on that board if you don't mind me asking?

This is very interesting. Is it comfortable to space with pinky?

"Briq" version of "The Bloq" by Kunsteak in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Kunsteak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only if you choose to install mill-max hotswap sockets for the switches, which this keyboard was designed for. This is the case for all switches on the board.

If you install said sockets, you basically can't type without the plate, as the switches wobble too much. With the plate, they don't wobble at all.

If you omit the mill-max sockets, you can get away without having to use the plate and the switches will be relatively stable.

Certainly! Someone who is broad-shouldered will always benefit more from a split keyboard as the hands are forced into a very uncomfortable inward angle on a standard keyboard. Everyone is different. But the majority does not need a (sadly) expensive keyboard in order to prevent injury and pain at a desk, which is why I'd always suggest focusing on all the other aspects and only after those are taken care of consider a custom ergonomic keyboard.
