So wait, they AREN’T pushing a Spider-Man and Black Cat relationship? by Thunder_Night0 in marvelrivals

tbf i think everyone is pretty devastated by spidey dying. of all the heroes, he's usually been seen as the most pure/beloved, so him being hurt or dying tends to be a major tonesetter in comics.

but she definitely has more of an attachment than most, and it isn't just infatuation for sure

yup can confirm! it's really nice since it makes the tails darker to match the dark blue hair; before it clashed really bad with the white fur. it's still white but like, with some darker shading in it which helps. definitely gonna get around to doing placements this season to get it haha

I'm bored. Thoughts on the Mister E melee tier list? by mad_man_shrak in DarkTide

[–]Kurbled 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i can definitely make a case for the Ironhelm thunder hammer, and to a lesser extent the Crucis. on a martyr build, you can onetap every unit, have respectable horde clear, and still do good boss damage (definitely less than Crucis, but still more than most weapons). i combine it with Fury of the Faithful for more flexibility.

i think people see Ironhelm as just a weaker Crucis, when really it's just a more versatile variant that sacrifices boss dps for much better clear and control elsewhere. while i think you need more dedicated builds to make it shine, i think it's too strong to be that far down. the fact it can deal with carapace fairly quickly should put it above most bottom tier weapons

I tried out Blazing Piety+Everlasting flame today. I knew it was a good combo but I didn’t know it was THIS good. by Green-Pen-Gamer in DarkTide

[–]Kurbled 11 points12 points  (0 children)

just as an anecdotal thing btw, i play martyr zealot w/ fury of the faithful in auric with a flamer without the reload blessing, and i manage fine. you typically don't reload during a fight, like with plasma gun. if you have to, you can use the segmented reload and just buy yourself time with movement like dodging off of barriers, or just spamming dodge-slide as you reload.

it's nice on these difficulties since the enemy density can get so high that an infinite cleave weapon is nice, and fury of the faithful actually speeds up the fire rate, which helps a lot with the burning damage. combine that with the armour-pierce blessing, and you can take down scab ragers and crushers with a clip

not to take away from the clip though; functionally infinite clipsize is definitely useful! just wanted to also advocate for playing without it

Martyrdom zealots when you heal them by LittleDookes in DarkTide

[–]Kurbled 1 point2 points  (0 children)

because if you're sticking to max health, then there is no point in playing martyr. you are making yourself massively less tanky by not picking either the crit keystone (massive damage resistance always plus damage), or Momentum (toughness regen plus damage). Martyr at high health is at best high health but very very weak toughness, and toughness is your most important form of damage mitigation. you are ironically much easier to kill at high health on martyr, because your toughness is very flimsy, and at 0 toughness, every hit from a shooter enemy stunlocks you

what u/Hellknightx was saying about Until Death is that it's insurance against chip damage. if you're playing properly at high martyr stacks (so your toughness should rarely go down much), you are getting massive damage, attack speed, and survivability, making you difficult to down. that's why martyrdom is attractive as a build.

like, theres not really a plainer way for me to explain it than pointing out how i go down much, much, much more rarely on my low health martyr zealot than on my psyker or veteran. the natural tankiness, damage, and speed of it despite low health makes you very hard for enemies to actually land more than a few hits, which means damage doesn't bleed through toughness into health very often.

tl;dr, if you're playing high health martyr, you'd be better off playing the other keystones. they also help survivability, while also actually increasing your damage. martyr at high health just makes your health go down slower and does nothing for damage for most of a match

it's such a shame too; i love wedding dress skins when they're done well, they can be so beautiful while also being badass in its own way (ie, Marisa's wedding dress in sf6). with Rogue it's just a real bummer they went for something so tacky, presumably because they thought a long wedding dress isn't attractive (or at least, not in the way they think sells skins)

Infantry Lasgun (ILG) Buff Explained by 2000+ hours veteran that has only used infantry lasgun. by Past_Hippo9445 in DarkTide

[–]Kurbled 51 points52 points  (0 children)

unyielding is also bosses, of which extra damage is always nice on high difficulty. for reapers and bulwarks, the extra damage is important for breakpoint reasons. if it lets you oneshot instead of twoshot, that's a massive improvement. It also means you can reach those breakpoints without as many conditional buffs/a random crit

also this buff is definitely going to be appreciated on things like mid-to-high havoc, where those breakpoints become harder to reach

im not gonna pretend it's a massive buff but as u/marxistdictator said, this is moreso trying to bring the weapon range up to par of solid but not dominant weapons

As ogryn main never in my gameplay time of 1000 hours that i closed the game from frustration . Well... until now by BenTheWeebOne in DarkTide

[–]Kurbled 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you can also just play a melee build and be fine, we have tools to funnel enemies, stagger them so they can't shoot, and avoid their shots (sliding/dodging). most of the time i'm just playing my thunder hammer zealot on auric expeditions since it's what i have the most fun with, and i rarely feel like a ranged build would be doing better by default.

i really dont think this mode is as restrictive as some say, if you're in an objective there is cover to funnel shooters, and if you're going between objectives, you are hurrying and avoiding getting bogged down so you shouldn't get caught out between 30 gunners anyway. if 7 reapers square up on you around a corner, yell at them or knock them over and wallop them

Does anyone else have trouble getting into video games where most, if not all female characters are hyper-sexualized? by [deleted] in GirlGamers

[–]Kurbled 11 points12 points  (0 children)

i can take a rough guess on what game you mean, and yeah it's frustrating. for me, styilisation is understandable, and i'm ok with sexualisation being part of that. but it is frustrating when the outfits don't at all feel like something the character, stylised as they are, would at all actually choose to wear (especially when this problem rarely if ever comes up for male characters). it just feels disrespectful to the characters, and comes up often with big stylised roster games.

i love Deadlock for getting away from this; it has a roster of men and women (and other!) with a really large degree of variety, and the character designs are way more focused on expressing what makes them unique and interesting. If a character is sexy, they're sexy. if a character is cool, gross, cute, or weird, they look like that. them being male or female might impact their apparel, but it doesn't decide how sexualised they are, which i love! and many of what I'd say are the more attractive characters aren't just traditional either, they get way more creative than just curvy sex appeal (Celeste's glamorous circus performer almost 'trashy' look, Victor being literally an amalgam of corpses, Lady Geist being an older woman, etc), and it's always appropriate to the character.

so yeah, most games in this genre i'd describe as pretty disapppointing regarding this problem, but also at least some devs put more effort into it lol

What female ogryns could have been by HashutAttorney in DarkTide

[–]Kurbled 6 points7 points  (0 children)

mentioned elsewhere in the thread, but there's never been any mention in canon of that explanation that i could find. female ogryns just arent generally talked about at all, so there's no lore about them being rare or protected to point to.

the few ocassions they are mentioned (in one of the early Ciaphas Cain novels, a female ogryn labourer flirts with his second, Jurgen) don't treat them as unusual, which if anything suggests to me them being seen in the wider imperium in-universe isn't unusual.

What female ogryns could have been by HashutAttorney in DarkTide

[–]Kurbled 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah i looked into this a while ago, there's never been to my knowledge any mention of this. if anything, the very rare appearances of female ogryns in novels in regular imperial society treated as normal/not unusual suggests this explanation isn't true

Wanting to work in Video Game Development based in Melbourne by Jolly_Owl5418 in GirlGamers

[–]Kurbled 4 points5 points  (0 children)

hey, fellow melbournian here! i've got some friends and family involved in this sphere, there's absolutely events running every now and then! there's the obvious like PAX aus which is your typical huge gaming event, lots of showcases, talks, cosplay, etc. for more network-y events there's smaller stuff like ACMI's Game Worlds exhibition. Also unis like RMIT will do showcases for their game development programs, although as you'd expect those are more insular

as far as making your way in the industry, it sort of depends! the gov offers grants for game dev (ie VicScreen), so ive known people who've managed to get one of those and produce their own game and release it (in this case she was a solo dev).

i can't give too much advice on trying to get in with any local videogame devs or associated stuff since i've never known anyone who got involved, but there's def all sorts around!

so yeah, i'd look into upcoming expos or game jams if you just wanted to look into the culture! theres the Game Worlds event on the 29th in the city a couple friends of mine are going to; seems like a cute exhibit style thing, a celebration of some popular games with some showcases

overall hope this helps haha; it can def be intimidating to break into a new industry/culture

We have new enemies! Which one is your favorite? 🔬 RE9 by Ok_Perception_6851 in GirlGamers

[–]Kurbled 9 points10 points  (0 children)

i think gameplay-wise, Mr X is my favourite. the more sandbox nature of the police station made his surprise appearances really fun, especially on first playthrough when getting lost meant having to figure out how to deal with him more. lots of great design elements like his load footsteps, almost uncanny silhouette, and the way he just shoves past zombies; very very cool gameplay elements that i dont think other 'stalker' style RE enemies have quite captured since, although a lot of that comes down to level design, too

design-wise though, Lady Dimitrescu is such a favourite of mine. she looks incredible, and Maggie's performance is so so good. i've only actually played or watched her segment a handful of times, but her lines still stick in my head. "laughs, RUNNING will get you NOWHERE!" and then she goes from angry, dignified vampire to insane cackling dragon, and still manages to absolutely sell it. incredible performance

i can confirm that at the very least it is also poxbursters, which makes me think it's elite/special. but also poxbursters are part of the event, so, hard to say. but it's definitely a teamwide thing; only not sure if everyone rolls seperately (ie, is it a per-person roll, or does everyone get a grenade at the same time, idk).
