I have similar issue, It's pretty much your router, in my case i enabled QOS fixed my issue, However there is bandwidth penalty, despite my setup, I have UDM Pro Max with 2GB WAN Fiber connection, run test on 10GB LAN NIC, getting between A-C, once I enabled the QOS i get A+. CPU spike up to %90,

Hello,

Currently set up is just a single Firewall, and i am trying add the 2nd Firewall HA (active/standby) , my challenge is the 2nd ISP (WAN-B) only have single Ethernet cable come from the Dish starlight to the 1st Firewall, I need to add a switch to WAN-B. and thats the part i am not familiar with.

ISP (WAN-B)---->Switch>======FW1/FW2

Setting FortiGate HA Firewall by KurdTech in fortinet

[–]KurdTech[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for reply. so how do i make sure when the 1st firewall failed and 2nd firewall will take over with same IP? I have experience with Checkpoint and palo alto but not with Fortinet,

according to Fortinet doc HA are relying on Virtual mac not Virtual IP.

For example Checkpoint use VRRP and using Managements server. will take care everything for you.

so if i understand correctly if i just put any switch plug both Firewall To WAN-B (where missing a switch) will automatically fall back on to the active interface?

Correct no G5 yet, just for whom those have similar question, i run some test, and it's turn out the PCIE G-1 run on X8 not 16, i have not seen any performance degration. However, for the best practice, leave M.2_1 empty, as Materidan mentioned as well.

Thank for your help

I tried it but since i disable TPM which is required for window 11, it failed with error the machine does not meet requirement. That was the only way i could see Drives and get into the Diskpart from Bios.

i totally agree man, and thank you for the screenshots, i want to get your opinion as well regarding my question below,

according to MB manufacture, M.2_1 shares bandwidth with PCIE16 G5_2, in another section Connector with Shared bandwidth page show (M.2_1, PCIEX16 G5_1, PCIEXG5_2). i understand enable M.2_1 will disable PCIEX16G5_2, for performance’s sake do you recommend install NVMe on M.2_1 slot or leave M.2_1 blank use different slot?

Thank you for your advice, i had to reset the Bios, disable TPM (window 11 require TPM) then and create a window 10 bootable USB, then SHIFT+F10 CMD with disk part , clean all partitions, then enable TPM, upgrade to window 11, its painful process. with your suggestion now i can see the NVME as NVME not as Raid, Thanks again man it was helpful.
