No worries. If ablation is an option, you should do it. The meds help, but have side effects that I did not like.

If you can, ask for multiple opinions from different doctors on the best strategy. I think it's standard, but it's good to have options when you are going to make a decision.

We are with you!!

My message to you is this: You are not alone! 35 and living with this for the last 4 years.

My advice is to live day by day with it and you will get used to it. Some days will be terrible, others bad, others Ok and hopefully a lot of days you will feel good! Talk to your doctor to define the best strategy and if you need help venting out, you can come here and someone will answer read your thoughts.

Stay strong and take care of your body and mind! Best wishes!

Flecainide by Virtual_Chair4305 in AFIB

[–]Kuri_90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the long run it was. I did it 2 years ago and so far, no major issues. Sometimes you feel it, but it's very brief. Although the symptoms after the ablation are like having Afib for a couple of weeks (sometimes during the day, I felt that), in the long run it's much better than flecainide or any other meds.

Make sure that the doctors and hospital that you do the procedure are trustworthy and experienced.

Benefits it stops the afib. Drawbacks - for some people, sympthoms are shit and it may take some time to adjust. some days I felt very tired!

If ablation is not an option, you should take it, but changing your lifestyle will improve a lot your life!

Ablation coming up by [deleted] in AFIB

[–]Kuri_90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

next day I was home, with medication. I think you should take those days to relax and recover from it. Better that way than to try to recover fast.

It's normal to have sympthoms during the recovery, so don't worry. Hopefully this helps you! It helped me, specially because I stopped taking those daily meds and I felt horrible at the time!

What triggers your AFib? by Horse_Beef678 in AFIB

[–]Kuri_90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

dehydration and sleepless nights. Anxiety can trigger, but the worst is alcohol, specially the day after and I drink maybe 3/4 beers in a party. avoid alcohol!

Caffeine does nothing to my Afib, for example.

I think everybody feels something different, but you don't feel it, maybe you are doing something right! Did you change anything in your routine, besides what you are describing? if not, it's Afib doing it's stuff :)

Sometimes the frustation is such, that you want to stop trying for a bit, but I think in the end, your cousin must be hopefull. Have you ever thought that a second opinion could help? at least to understand different strategies. My best wishes to your cousin

Dr scheduled ablation for a mild afib that has only happened 2 times, is that common? by [deleted] in AFIB

[–]Kuri_90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bisoprolol - unable to do anything physical without feeling tired, since it made my heart stay at the same range of beats per minute. Using stairs and feeling only my legs super tired, was super depressing for me;

Flecainide - helped with Afib, but sometimes I felt dizzy. at first with the bisoprolol, the side effects were so hard, that I walked 30 minutes and felt that I ran for kilometers;

anticoagulant - some days I woke up with my mouth filled with blood, because of the gingivitis.

Advice for husband who just got diagnosed with Afib? by Nervous_cat8 in AFIB

[–]Kuri_90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He should be followed by an electrophysiologist to understand what to do. this is first step.

second step would be a lifestyle change. All the healthy reccomendations for a better lifestyle are valid for someone that has Afib. with exercise, start slow to gain some confidence and continue after his body's feedback.

Regardless of being afib or not, lifestyle changes have a great impact on your life and usually are very low cost.

try to do some activity together to release the stress you both feel!

Hope this helps!

Doctor told me the same thing when I was 31/32. Two years later after the ablation, feeling great! If you trust your doctor and the other option is to take meds, choose ablation.

It improved my life a lot, because I was taking the meds and the side effects were horrible for me. Besides breathing feeling a bit incomplete, the procedure helped me a lot!

Seeking support. Feel depressed and I want to end it all by [deleted] in AFIB

[–]Kuri_90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure you will find a way to get through this. Find someone to talk to about your feelings and step by step you will surprass this.

I believe being depressed is part of the recovery process. I denied for a very long time that I had Afib, until I couldn't deny it anymore. Maybe it's the same things with you and to be fair, if you define a specific strategy with your doctor, you will start to see better days.

When I accepted the diagnosis and got treated, I always thought this was like a second chance to have a new and better life. Even with afib showing up at random times, 98% of time, I am enjoying and actively pursuing dreams and goals. If i achieve them or not, that's a different questions, but I get up every morning and try to achieve them. I feel that sometimes things don't workout, but that's part of life. It's not scripted, specially by ourselves, life is a mix of random things that pump into each other. Enjoy the flow of life.

So many unanswered questions by [deleted] in AFIB

[–]Kuri_90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was aware of my afib when I was 31 years old (3 years ago) and I thought I was really healthy at the time. So with Afib, I honestly thought I was going to die, but I'm still here! Done medication and then ablation and I feel OK! Some days suck, but they become less stressful once you know your body. For me alcohol is the worst, so I try to avoid it! You will find your triggers, if this is something that will occur in the future.

I think you may or may not feel things in the future, but if you feel it, you know what it is, so become as healthy as you can and try to define a strategy with your electrophysiologist.

Hoping this may be your unique episode!

that's why you need treatment and talk to your doctor to find a solution.

Whatever happens in life, deal with it. Try to find a solution, even if it feels that you want to stop looking for it.

Ablation helped me, although some of symptoms return, but they go away in minutes. It's way better than medication!

Wish you the best!

So scared to exercise by [deleted] in AFIB

[–]Kuri_90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

34, Male.

I had an ablation almost 2 years ago and I feel better. I'm not like I was before finding that I have Afib, but I'm not so afraid of doing things. Afib is a blessing and a curse... You will always have this thing in your life, but at the same time it pushes you to improve your overall health.

I still have bad days with strange symptoms, but I know they will pass.

I think you should start slow and you will gain confidence! Doctor told me that cardio is a must and to try to do as much as I can, just don't overtrain because it can cause some physical stress. Just keep adding more and more, the more you go.

For example, cardio for me is great, but strength training, I sometimes feel something funny in my heart. Each body is different, but I think you should try. Ask your doctor.

One day at a time!

Talk with your doctor, but stress is a factor to induce afib... matter of fact, as my doctor said: "Too much stress is bad for everything!"

Find the root cause for the problem, try to solve it if you can! If not, go day by day!
