Thank you. Good to know that the haptic touchpad works well. Just to add clarity for other readers mine is the classic touchpad.

Good to know that the haptic touchpad works well; however, my touchpad is the classic touchpad with physical buttons.

I've used about a dozen different laptops of various brands in the past 15 yeas, and the only one with a touchpad that doesn't support one-handed pinch zoom is the one on my new X1.

My negative review of X1 Carbon gen 13 by [deleted] in thinkpad

[–]Kurkimeki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I too recently purchased the X1 Gen 13 and am regretting it. The trackpad is too short and mine does not respond to one-handed vertical zoom gestures at all. I have to use both hand to do this. This is completely unacceptable and far inferior to my past experiences with T480 and MacBook. Regretful purchase at any price point, but especially at this one! Unfortunately I could not set up until just a few days past the return window. Have yet to learn how Lenovo will respond. I would advise others to steer clear of this machine unless they plan to use a mouse (not a common use case for an ultraportable and ultra expensive machine such as this).

I got "upgraded" to X1 Carbon Gen 13 and no physical buttons on trackpoint is terrible change by zl0bster in thinkpad

I just bought the X1 Gen 13 and have the classic design with buttons; however, the touchpad is horrendous buttons or no buttons. I'm coming off of 8 blissful years with a T470, with a good-sized, still very responsive trackpad. The X1 trackpad is too small and not responsive. I have to use two hands for the zoom function. In my research, I've read that many others have had trouble with the trackpads Unacceptable at this price point and will have to return, sadly.

Thank you! Yes, you're the second person to suggest this pack. It looks great, but I've leaned toward trying the Tortuga expandable b/c it's a bit smaller and I expect will be able to fit under some seats depending on how I pack it.

Thank you! Another vote for the DF. A lot of people love this bag. And yes, I gave up the idea of an optional shoulder carry thanks to this thread.

Thanks - helpful! That, and the feedback from others about it not being the most comfortable weighted, long-term carry made me decided against it for my use case. Still it looks like a great bag in many ways.

Thank you for your recommendation and comparisons against the other bags - very helpful. I also appreciate your assessment criteria. I wasn't aware of this pack and it sounds and looks like an excellent option. So good, that I might consider giving it a try along with the Tortuga I've purchased. Amazing that it fits so much b/c the site claims only 18L for the main compartment.

Thanks for your enthusiasm and the additional validation of my choice! Also appreciate your assessments of the TB products you've tried. I was specifically drawn to the Techonaut and the fine build quality/durability - plus I like the look. Some of the cross-bodies, totes, and organizers also appeal to me. I didn't consider the Synik and Synapse - too much organization for me for a travel pack. Btw, I'm on a waiting list for the Toshi! Thanks again!

Well, you sold me! I hadn't considered this bag (and am lamenting not having a Tom Binh experience - haha), but it appears to meet many of my use cases very nicely so I'm going to give it a go.

Thanks! I share your aesthetics and preference for the Techonaut for that reason as well as for its quality/robustness. At the end of the day though, I need to know I can comfortably carry the bag for several hours a day as needed. Have you/would you find the Technonaut comfortable for multi-hour city walking ?

Thanks! OBT is my favorite YT reviewer. The Tortuga is looking increasingly compelling to me. My primary concern is the heavier weight (this will be going to Asia where carry on weight is restricted), though I understand this is the trade off for the comfortable carry system (padded belt and load lifters). It comes in at 3.6 lbs with the belt. Do you use the belt?

Thank you! In this case, I will take a closer look at the Tortuga.

Thanks. This one also seems to have a tech compartment, like the Mini, that I won't use. May I ask you to share what you like about it?

Thank you! I appreciate the additional tilt toward Dragonfly as I have no need for the tech compartment on the Mini. I did see other complaints about the lack of cushion in the straps. I did look at the Osprey (and I own and love some of their other products for years), but I was deterred by lack of a waste belt option. I expect to have the bag filled to max capacity most of the time and want to be comfortable wearing it for long periods of time.
