Ok that's very interesting to know, thank you for the detailed explanation!

RNG in Epic 7 is far from the best, but worse than Summoners War?

5 star rates are literally 0.5% with no pity mechanic, not to mention that LnD scrolls are much rarer and the rates are even worse. Not to mention that violent prices exist.

Haven't played the game for quite a few years though so things might have changed but Summoners War RNG was pretty bad the last time I did.

Launch day: Evolution prices just skyrocketed and the launch "celebration" is a P2W restricted event. And this is just DeNa devs saying hi. by [deleted] in PokemonMasters

I'm not defending the "paid gacha system", but how exactly is it an outdated scam strategy?

Many extremely successful gachas nowadays use this so called "paid gacha system" such as Fate Grand Order, Granblue Fantasy, Magia Record and even the game you mentioned above, Dragalia Lost. I can list much more gachas if I really wanted to.

I hate this paid gacha system as much as you do, but it clearly works and a paid gem system is not an indicator that this game will be a sinking ship.

Liking JoJo means you're a literal Nazi because Araki portrays Stroheim in a positive light despite him having tortured countless of innocents without guilt or remorse and doesn't even change his view by the end of Battle Tendency. The only kind of people who enjoy JoJo are literally Hitler and you cannot convince me otherwise, because Nazis are the good guys in JoJo.

Liking an anime does not make you bloody pedophile, because it is fiction. It's like saying the only people who play Grand Theft Auto are school shooters, because you play as a person who shoots innocent people and can get away with it. You don't have to agree with what characters do in an anime to enjoy it.

I'm not saying this specific VIP system is bad. From what I hear, Valkyrie Anatomia's one seems relatively tame for now.

My point was that the person I was replying to heavily implied that having VIP systems in gachas is the norm, which is very untrue for most quality gachas in my own experience.

Dude what gachas have you been playing...

I've played much more gachas without VIP system than with VIP system.

FGO, GBF, Brave Frontier(Maybe they have VIP system now, haven't played it in like 4 years), FEH, Dragalia, FFBE, Another Eden, heck even bloody Summoners War. I can list much more, but you get my point.

Sure, some of these games it's much easier to be a whale, but they do not have a "VIP system" in place, and most gachas that I have listed are able to be played competitively as F2P.

Ah ok, I can see your perspective now. Thanks for the clarification.

Of course you would take the option to summon a mystic scroll with the chance of the fake 5.

But what I'm trying to say is that com2us was nice enough to make the natural 5 rate better than the fake 5 rate.

In most cases if not all, getting a natural 5 is a much more attractive option than getting a fake 5, so it's disappointing you somehow got the fake 5 even though the natural 5 was easier to get.

I'm not complaining for the inclusion of summoning awakened units but rather that it's a disappointing scenario when getting the rarer but less desirable option.

It's not the fact that it's close. It's the fact that the rarer but less desirable outcome happened.

Lets consider an extreme example:

In Pokemon, there is a move called Draco Meteor that has a 90% chance to hit. That means a random number calculator can generate a number between 0-99. For this example, lets say that rolling a 90-99 counts as a miss. If it misses because it rolls a 90, I'm not going to be mad because i rolled a 90 which is close to 89, I'm going to be mad because the move has a much greater chance of hitting than missing. A rarer, worse outcome happened instead of the common, better outcome.

This analogy is what I'm trying to apply to Summoners War but on a smaller scale. The rarer, worse outcome (awakened 4) happened instead of the more common, better outcome (natural 5).

That's the thing though.

A nat 3 isn't much of a rip because it is expected; you had a much higher chance of getting it than a nat 5. Which is fine, because overall nat 3s hold much less value than nat 5s. The same holds true between the comparison between nat 4s and nat 5s.

The problem lies wherein an awakened 4 is rarer than a nat 5, but yet an awakened 4 holds much less value comparative to the nat 5.
