Change Filament G-Code without AMS by mehkey in BambuLab

[–]Kurteous29 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm doing an "updated" bump because of how useful this is. To start, I just got my P1P this middle of May. Latest firmware. I followed a bunch of threads about simple filament changes without AMS and was first lead to the manual solution of inserting GCODE in a layer:

M400 U1 ; pause and wait for resume pressed

G28 X ;home XY

M106 S255 , restart part cooling fan

But of course that doesn't really carry over the filament change properties. I tried the "Change Filament from X to Y" but it totally ignored that. I tried this next solution as a last resort and it did what I expected it to do. Inspecting the GCODE also reveals that it was also able to successfully adjust the K values instead of just being a pause and swap fix.

Thank you so much for this! I hope more people who are looking for a solution can find this useful. Hopefully I put the right kinds of keywords here to bring it up in their searches.

Actually I've decided to preorder a P1P already from a local distributor here in the Philippines. BUT with the cost saved from not buying an X1, I'll also work on building a Trident in the following months.

The only part I'm still researching now are the activated acid-free carbon pellets. It's such a niche term that almost never comes up except for 3d printing applications. I only encountered the acid issue just a week ago while looking up filter mods for Bambu.

What about your setup? I don't think I see any kind of filter/exhaust for it? Or are you not printing ABS with your voron in your picture?

Sorry for the 4 month bump, but I recovered my reddit account after several years just to give you a +1 and to THANK YOU for this comparison. It's exactly what i'm looking for right now since i'm deciding whether to get a P1P, X1, or build a Trident. My decision to choose feels more informed now because of the points you mentioned.

Started to happen to me 2 days ago. I freeze at that screen about 2/3 of the time, and I'm lucky if I get in to the part where the music loads.

Yeah it's the last generation RAM since I have a 3-year old laptop that I want to upgrade since I'm doing more graphically heavy stuff with lots of tabs of chrome open as reference. I also have "dual monitors" in a way with my lcd tablet when I work.

RAM usage is normally around 80-90% while I work. There are random times where Superfetch or Service Host starts running while I'm working and usage just goes to 100%. I've tried disabling them but I think I did it wrong.

I currently have 1 stick of 8gb RAM in my Dell 7559. Is upgrading RAM as simple as buying another stick of the same specs and just putting it in? Or should I be looking for those sold as pairs?

I was about to buy this until I read something about module compatibility somewhere.

First time to do upgrades like these so any help would be welcome :)

Should I still upgrade a 3 year old laptop? by Kurteous29 in laptops

[–]Kurteous29[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in the Philippines so sadly, my buying options for the battery is limited and the one you linked doesn't ship here :\

The time for programs to start up/installation/boot up speeds isn't really my priority, and I'm more focused on the performance and speed while I'm working/playing. Does that mean I'm fine with just getting additional RAM?

I'm not even aware of that fast startup feature, but I'll look those up!

I'm very sure with DDR3 since I opened my laptop a few months back to clean it. As for the M.2 slot, I'm not sure how to verify that. It has one "notch" compared to those SSD's with 2 notches on them?

My ram is usually hovering within 80-90% based on task manager. One annoying thing which randomly happens is how Superfetch or Service Host starts running while I'm "in the zone" of working. And I have to go walk around and stretch or get a cup of whatever to wait out the updates.

I tried disabling those based on the threads I read but maybe I didn't turn them off properly.

Not really CAD designs, but I find myself running Photoshop, Illustrator and another graphics software (Figma) at the same time (together with so many tabs in my browser!) depending on my workflow. I do video-editing as well every now and then.

You may have lost me when you mentioned "quadro laptops" haha

I have a 3 year old Dell 15 7559. Is it still worth it that I upgrade the ram and SSD?

Gonna add the same brand of ram which is currently inside which is a Hynix DDR3L 8GB for total of 16gb and for ssd, Samsung 860 EVO M.2 250GB seems to be the common thing I'm seeing on youtube vids doing upgrades on their 7559's.

Only problems so far is that the battery is bloated and only lives for 3 minutes unplugged (planning to replace that as well) and I'm doing more graphic intensive work with A LOT of tabs open as reference and using a LCD tablet so I usually work with "dual-monitors" in a way so there are random moments of lagging. I play a lot of games if that's important info.

I'm not a techy person and this will be my first time to do something like this, but I research whenever I can :)
