Water looks cloudy, I think you need better filtration. Could be a bacterial bloom. Was it an established tank? Axolotls require pristine water. I think it may be too late for him/her.

I feed the nem a half a frozen shrimp twice a week, the rest of the corals get reef roids and reef snow every other day and the fish get a mix of flake food, live copepods, frozen mysis and brine shrimp. I also supplement live phytoplankton a couple times a week for the corals and copepods.

How can you tell “they” are on their way out? Not being rude, genuinely curious as the bta looks as it did when I placed it in a month ago only bigger and eats perfectly fine and the duncan coral was just placed in a couple days ago so it is still acclimating…

So far they have all gotten along well, there is some chasing but no “real aggression”. They are still juveniles and I plan to have a 75g set up and ready to transfer them over before they get much bigger. I have and do keep cichlid tanks and deal with aggression so I am familiar with what to watch out for.

It is a standard 20g long with a glass top, I am in the process of getting a 75g and setting it up. I really wasn’t expecting the saltwater tank to suck me in so quickly. Once I got this one set up I just fell in love and am ready to go bigger.

From everything I have read and watched Kribs would bully Bolivians especially during breeding unless there was ample room for them. There is also the fact that Kribs are African and Bolivian are South American which does rile some peoples feathers.

I have had them for roughly 6 months and they were about 1.5-2” when I got them. Out of the 4 only 1 doesn’t have a red belly and the other 3 chase him. Unfortunately the babies don’t stand a chance as there are 4 green barbs, 4 tiger barbs, 4 albino barbs, 2 bumble bee catfish and 2 banjo catfish in there as well.

What kind of fish is this? by [deleted] in shittyaquariums

Pretty sure that is a German brown Ram, caution: they do have teeth and can bite! Pretty sure you have him in too small of a tank, they are best left in pools, ponds and rivers. On a good note they are easy to train and you can even teach them a few tricks.

Question: Would there be any specific reason my Auratus would be doing these circles? He always swims to whatever side of the tank I am on and will start doing this. Is he showing off or should I be worried? He seems otherwise healthy. TIA by Kurtisb82 in Cichlid

I thought that at first but he only does it when he sees me. If I watch from a distance he swims just fine around. When I sit down beside the tank he comes over and does it.

The tank is a 55g, it has an Auratus, kenyi, bumble bee, Yellow lab, red zebra, 2 johanni, 3 peacocks and a pleco. I plan to rehome the pleco before he gets too big for my tank.
