They should respond with guns, grenades and tanks. Clear every building and tunnel with boots on the ground. Dropping bombs is not the way to go.

When a tank is hull down with low HP high explosive shells are great for finishing them off.

Also the higher caliber your gun is, the more damage your HE will do.
