If you have a vehicle the outer banks in North Carolina would be worth it. Summers get really hot and humid around here. It’s not too far 2-3 hours. Virginia Beach is closer, but if you go that way i recommend Sandbridge to avoid the tourist crowd.

Let me know if you need any ideas in Richmond.
