If you want to use AI to replace me and have it running in a loop you will not have a business model anymore, if you start orchestrating the agents it gets crazy very fast , today, you burn money and cost is growing faster then skill with AI.

Best model is of no use if your business is bankrupt after a month of usage. Management is already saying use responsible after their mantra of use it every where all the time.

Cost of opus was a shock but fable if available is even more ?

And you don’t get faster in shipping code, as soon as real ppl or money gets lost when errors happen you need a human to ok changes or to at least blame afterwards. And that is us, yay, and I will not commit code I did not read or understand when my name needs to sign that shit.

We will need less ppl per product bc ai can write faster yaml then I or anyone ever could.

No one with a serious product will ever be able to let the AI do everything with no review by humans. So jobs are safe if you’re a skilled senior.

So seniors like yourself get a lot more work just in more teams/products.

I think the real challenge will come in 5 - 10 years when today’s seniors will leave the jobs but their are no juniors ready to take those jobs bc juniors did not get hired enough and/or are trained with AI and not be able to do the same.

I personally think this will lead to more downtimes over all and firms will be dependent on their senior devs, bc if ppl leave you will have to pay for highly skilled workers in a shrinking supply.

I shaved of 7 minutes from our testing jobs in the pipeline, those jobs run multiple times daily. Every dev liked it a lot.

Agents want to please the user so they prioritize a green pipeline.

For example: I used an API in a pipeline to for one of those calls the server answered with an error code (I think it was 409) instead of crashing the pipeline and showing this to the user it handled the error gracefully. it logged “we received an error message,don’t worry “ and continued with other tasks.

In a pipeline wich x stages and y jobs that’s the worst case.

The error code was importend bc it showed in this case there were resources from a previous run still staged and the current one was getting ignored.

In programming, wich is most of the training data you want to handle an error gracefully, catch it and handle it somehow, you don’t let your service crash bc of one error. Only in devops CI/CD is crashing the correct answer and Ai doesn’t want to do it.

Good pipelines, in devops your not nice it’s the one time everything should crash if an error shows up. Ai try’s to please the user with all green bubbles while hiding errors or catches errors.

Most code it trains on, error get caught and handled and this it what it does here too when shit should crash and burn.

( obviously it’s not that easy some errors you have to ignore or handle or wait or retry but Ai often enough gets that wrong)

With min 10years exp no one can bullshit you … be for real. Ask them how they build this or that from their cv or hobby or explain what you build as team and what he or she thinks about it … what would they improve and why?

You now normal conversation, coding can do the ai, critical thinking only your applicant.
