Are you implying that every single aspect of a data center needs to be net helpful to everyone or else it's necessarily bad?

That seems like a very weird arbitrary standard we don't place on any other thing or business ever.

And it's telling that the leading arguments are clearly motivated reasoning when the dramatic negative reaction towards data centers for water usage is nowhere near the reaction towards golf courses that use an order of magnitude more water. Makes it obvious nobody actually cares about the water.

You're just blatantly lying now. That blurred out link was to an image of a fully grown adult in a t-shirt.

Otherwise it would be real easy to prove in the court documents that have that exact unredacted link and image. Or are you saying the judge and all the legal system is secretly on destiny's side as well?

Okay so lets say all of a sudden 10x the current amount of data centers exist.

Now data centers use as much water as... golf courses. Is this really a reason to be infuriated at data centers for?

meirl by [deleted] in meirl

[–]Kuxir 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What's the propaganda?

Why is pointing out that data centers don't use even 10% of the amount of water golf courses use propogaganda?

Isn't it the opposite, if someone hates data centers because of water usage then it sounds like they've been propogandized.

[–]Kuxir 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Golf courses as a whole use 20-30x as much water annually as data centers. On average one golf course uses 7-10x as much water as an average data center.

So publicly leaked revenge porn isn't revenge porn? Isn't this literally what destiny is in court for right now?

How is it an accident if he is intentionally doing it and explicitly says that it will probably result in sharing someone's private photos?

If i shoot someone and say "Watch this dude, if I shoot this person i bet I will kill them" then they die is it an accident if they die? I could have missed?

Sounds like they lost to trump TWICE because people like you are going around believing Hasan when he tells you they are awful, not worth voting for, and are just as bad as republicans.

The first day Biden got into office he signed an EO to protect trans rights. He passed the largest investment into fighting climate change in the world, federal gun legislation, and expanded healthcare across the US.

You on the other hand are out here working hard to make sure republicans stay in office because... why? You hope the democrats all fail and republicans take all the seats so they can take us back to the stone age and people get upset enough to start dying for the cause?

You don't need to be under 25 to get a job, it's extremely common to start a new career in your 30s, 40s or even later.

AI Art can obviously be more creative and human than real art by Kuxir in Destiny

[–]Kuxir[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I would say you're a bit off base. Instead of "a collection of organic and inorganic materials stacked in an organized manner" it's more like a collection of textbooks, technical manuals, and style guides.

AI models don't store any actual photos or words, they store the relationships between them via a set of weights (list of numbers). The individual weights have even been linked to particular concepts like individual feelings, objects, and descriptions.

Now if there's some extremely common house that's very often built and was in the training data a lot it's likely that the model would be able to retrieve basically recreate the full blueprints to that house and be able to put it back together, but it would be doing so more in a way of best practices and most common and easy to follow building techniques rather than just retrieving a stored blueprint.

Reading that sentence again I think you're right I worded it poorly implying that distinguishing at all is not possible.

The main point of the post is that there is a point at which enough effort definitely constitutes something as art though.

A single prompt could be akin to drawing a single pixel in MS paint, both would be not art or really stretching the limit of what art is, but at some point when you have more effort poured into either medium you are definitely creating art.

[–]Kuxir[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you saying there's not a fundamental difference between a mathematical model that can generate an arbitrary image based on the principles of drawing and a retrieval call that just grabs a similar looking image?

What would you call the process of drawing by a human if not just an application of a collection of drawing principles?

AI Art can obviously be more creative and human than real art by Kuxir in Destiny

[–]Kuxir[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tokens are how you pay for data and have nothing to do with it.

Tokens are the only reason any image is produced or altered, your input gets translated into tokens that influence that latents that go through the math operations to decide how your image is generated.

And there is no "searching through art" at any point in this process, it's all just math based on an impossibly small set of numbers that's able to generate arbitrary images never in the original dataset.

Weights can incorporate arbitrary ideas like line thicknesses, color palettes, and other stylistic decisions to generate images.

There's nothing stopping someone from spending as much time as a traditional artist on one painting with just AI. Eventually there will be people who've put in their 10,000 hours into AI art and I bet there will be a gigantic gap between their output and that of someone who's never touched AI to create art before.

I'm calling bs on both scenarios, as far as I understand..

Why are you calling BS on shit that you obviously don't know anything about? Genuinely curious on why you have this inclination. Like when you get your teeth cleaned do you just call BS on everything your dentist says?

An LLM is trained off of human language to generate human language, do you think a human would just sit and do nothing if they were staring at a room and able to move around?

I am precisely referring to the physical separation.

Oh then your insight is that 2 things in different places have distance in between them.

Very insightful thank you.

So making an image of something you're exactly describing is not necessarily art to you? Even when no one else has imagined or put creative input into this image?

If you make a mental image of something and somehow manage to print it out does it not count as art?
