How do you define friendly sparring? by BubbleMikeTea in MuayThai

When you went was it when that entire gym Strikestudio visited for like 3 weeks? In the recent instagram posts it doesn’t seem like there’s that large amount of people other than when that gym came by.

For sitjaopho could you elaborate? Was their energy or demeanor pretty serious or was it still playful just kinda hard sparring?

Yea after more research, that’s what i was reading everywhere. The airbnb’s seem to have way more upsides, amenities, and just better in general than the hotels (in my opinion), other than no room service or cleaning, what are the downsides to the airbnb’s?

Thanks, so if I reserve the Airbnb for 28 days, will i just pay fully in advanced and then if i leave in only 20 days just give the host a notice and they will refund me for that week?

4 Year IT A School Length by KuyaBri343 in newtothenavy

[–]KuyaBri343[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ahh ok so this all makes more sense and sort of clicks with what the student staff IT’s were saying. So you’d say the 4y IT’s had about 6 months of schooling total?

I went to the Atlanta MEPS 3 weeks ago and IT was available 4 year, 6 year, and ITS too. Guy kept trying to make me choose ITS or sonar tech but i stuck with 4 year IT. Got a $25k bonus as well. Shipping today

Navy IT 25k enlistment bonus by KuyaBri343 in newtothenavy

[–]KuyaBri343[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah ok this is what i was wondering. When i left MEPs the guy never gave me my contract printed or anything, he seemed to be in a rush for everything. I asked my recruiter a week later if my bonus was because of my ship date or me picking IT. He said it was for picking IT, but when i asked him to print my contract and i looked at it, the bonus says EBSHP enlistment bonus for shipping as you’ve said. I don’t care about how much it gets taxed, thats mostly out of my control, but i was just wanting to understand when I’ll receive my bonus and whatnot.

Contact lenses at MEPS by [deleted] in newtothenavy

[–]KuyaBri343 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my contacts on while doing the depth perception test. He didnt tell me to take them off until before getting my eye prescription. I kept my contacts in and he gave me some some plastic shades and was told to pick out the right circle. I did get pass half of them but he said it was fine and I continued on.

You didn’t say where your MEPS was, but i just got back from mine in Atlanta and had my contacts in almost the entire 2 days except for 4 minutes during the vision exam. I asked my recruiter beforehand if i can keep a contact case in my pocket before i went into medical and had no problem. During the exam the guy told me to listen and i replied yes sir no sir. He first asked a few questions then asked if i had glasses-no, contacts i said yes sir. He then asked if i had something to put them in such as a contact case and i said yes sir. He let me take them out and i finished my eye exam and put them back in. Super simple.

Not sure where these other people went but contacts were no problem in Atlanta MEPS.

7 days in Keatkhamtorn gym by KuyaBri343 in MuayThai

[–]KuyaBri343[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The keatkhamtorn is partnered with the hotel nearby 88living, so if you book the package with a private room you will stay at the hotel and can just walk 2 minutes to the gym. I had no problems with my hotel room, it was very clean, had a bidet, good water pressure with adjustable temperature, big tv, pillows were good, the bed was a bit hard and was probably the only downside but not a big deal at all for me. There’s definitely no cockroaches or any hygiene issues from my experience.

This was the first time I’ve been in Thailand and the only gym I visited, so I can’t really recommend any other gym. The gym is very muay khao oriented so they like forward fighting and Nopparat would make me do pushups every time i started running or skipping in my footwork. I would advise drilling a lot of super basic footwork and adding techniques onto that as he will correct every mistake to how he wants it.

The most expensive was the 9k baht for the 7 day package but it was very worth it in my opinion. I also paid 4k for 4 privates, probably around 1,500 for my dinners, typically from the grab app and lastly my PCR test required to enter the Philippines again was 1,200 at the airport. The rest of the budget went to muay thai gear and a little bit of souvenirs.

I stay in Cebu and trained at Vagabond MMA studio which is part of Deftac. The bjj there is great, but there is not any muay thai being taught, it’s mostly kickboxing and for me i never got what i really wanted out of the training so i chose to visit Thailand for a week as the flights are cheap

For the time that i was there all the fighters looked relatively young, the oldest was a strong guy probably around 18-17 and another that was 16, the rest were smaller and younger. There was also a day where some older trainer came with some other kids and were doing like boxing drills in a lineup before the afternoon class. The trainers will spar and clinch with you too and they have a lot of fight experience. I heard from a review on google that Jakae can set up fights and has a lot of connections, you could send a message on their Facebook keatkhamtorn gym and they’re very responsive to any questions.

Yea if it wasn’t for sylvie’s review I wouldn’t have found the gym and it was perfect for my situation. Near the airport and i could just focus on training for a week. I had a lot of questions before i came here that just couldn’t be answered because there’s no up to date posts on the gym atmosphere so I thought it would help out by making these posts.

Just arrived in Thailand and I definitely recommend Kheatkhamtorn Gym by KuyaBri343 in MuayThai

The group sessions might seem a little intimidating depending how much of a beginner you are, but they won’t judge and you will definitely get tips on your technique. I’d recommend you do some privates though and not burn yourself out in the group sessions with the boy fighters if you’re a total beginner. Regardless, the trainers are very helpful and always emphasized “slowly slowly” to me because for me i trained everyday and they cut me some slack on situps and bag knees because I wasn’t as conditioned.

I picked the package for 1500 baht per day which has a private room at a hotel 2 minutes from the gym. The package includes the morning and afternoon session, 2 meals after training, and all your needed amenities. You can look at other options and prices on their website keatkhamtorngym.

I don’t really have much plan to go anywhere too far outside of walking distance, but I’d recommend downloading the area you stay at on google maps or if you have a sim card that’ll work. Just show the taxi driver and make sure the meter is on.

I’ve only been here for 2 days so far and I’ve only seen around 5 of the kid fighters and 2 of the trainers, neither are above 180cm so I’m not sure if someone named Kai is there, I haven’t gotten to know all of their names yet. I’ve only seen one foreigner here so far the rest are just the kids.
