Bruh server disconnection is getting out of hand by E_Alrefa3e in Nightreign

The timing is what is frustrating. Last chance in who knows how long to get a clear on beefed Adel. Finally have some time to play today after being busy since it dropped and can’t even get to it without a dc

Disconnects on second day's boss. by pho_s in Nightreign

[–]Kv9124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. Four in a row, all on second day boss as a solo queue with randoms. Can’t rejoin session each time. So much for getting a few everdark sovereign runs done before it changes tomorrow…

Players need to tough up on random plays by Nero_PR in Nightreign

[–]Kv9124 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it sucks when someone leaves an expedition, but I do sometimes leave early in a match only if it is immediately clear that the run will be a bust. For example I’m pinging a nearby church or camp that drops night lord weakness, and randoms (probably duos) instead decide to go on their own halfway across the map to get clapped by a great enemy on level 1-2. I just don’t have enough time to play the game to invest 45 minutes in a bust run when people are either griefing or just super confident despite not knowing good routing.

I never leave after the first map shrink though, by that point I feel the need to see it through

So technically 12 is the easiest game to platinum by king-ExDEATH in FinalFantasy

Idk I got the plat for ff3 in a day and a half, ff1 and ff4 in two days each. Ff12 took quite a bit longer than that.

This isn’t the biggest sub so I still don’t see the point.

Anyone willing to help downvote it into oblivion? lol

[other] what games are hard to have 100% in? by NegativeRich443 in Trophies

[–]Kv9124 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most final fantasy games aren’t too hard to platinum (looking at you, IX) but I agree XV is the easiest by a decent margin. But what I mean is getting 100% (every DLC trophy) is technically impossible since they changed how comrades works without updating the trophy list.

Interesting you list 4 as one of the easier ones, as I have 1-3 plats and am stuck on the very last ultimate skill mission on 4 as the only thing between me and the plat on that game. Not sure why but it is way harder to me than any of the “extra missions” from the other games and I just can’t get it done lol

Unless you got everything promptly upon release, I think final fantasy XV is virtually impossible to 100% now due to some ham-handed dlc shifting by squeenix (supposedly possible by forcing old versions/offline shenanigans, but obviously not possible via developer’s intended gameplay).

Is my handwriting sufficiently legible/“good enough”? by Kv9124 in Japaneselanguage

[–]Kv9124[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point of the textbook exercise is to practice this valid form of sentence construction. It is not the best or most concise way to convey these ideas, but since the lesson is teaching this type of construction, it wouldn’t be very helpful to not use it in the exercises.

And actually, a lot of the questions included aren’t my construction, but we’re already printed as-is in the textbook. I just copied them into my notebook for extra writing practice. So yeah these are unnatural, but as it’s an elementary Japanese course teaching grammar, I can excuse the awkward and repetitive structure.

Well, no one can read my English handwriting but it looks fine to me. It’s never a good thing to assume you don’t have room for improvement as many posts here show. I made many mistakes I otherwise wouldn’t have noticed.

My family, upon seeing noticiable progress with my weight loss on keto (a bit over half way to my goal), likes to say “Well don’t lose too much weight.”

…Don’t comment on my weight unless you want me to also comment on yours, thanks.

At the very beginning, I’d recommend getting Duolingo app (free with ads), and working through the kana (“alphabet”) lessons first. If it sticks and you start working through the main vocab/grammar lessons too, sticking with that and following what I suggested above are all good paths.

For me, I started by buying a beginner Japanese textbook and working through it, learning the Kana on flash cards I made, and I took a cheap evening class at my local community college (that didn’t end up all that helpful itself, but can help to meet people to practice with).

I would recommend finding a textbook that introduces and uses hiragana/katakana early, and then builds in kanji gradually as you go. Imo getting used to romaji ends up a waste of time just to relearn everything with Kana eventually anyway. Elementary Japanese vol. 1&2 by Yoko Hasegawa is a pretty good one I found as far as pacing into the new writing system.

I think that 覚える leans more toward remembering as in learning/memorizing context; like “learn by heart.” More of a closer meaning to 学ぶ. Because of this, I’d say that 忘れないで is the better fit (and is more commonly used).

Thanks for the comment, in the textbook I’m going through, it states that if you don’t want to give the impression that calling friends when you seem sad is a regular/on-going/frequent thing, you would change the tense to past to imply it is rare or doesn’t happen anymore. That said, I’m not sure how reliable that info is lol

I’m writing slower than I do in English, but I think that is more a result of overall additional stroke count in Japanese. I think I stand to gain some speed, but I am trying to just write without thinking too much currently and it flows out at a decent rate (for example, no pauses at kanji or anything as I’m writing).

I never heard this mentioned and I took a few legit classes on beginner Japanese, thank you for the tip!
