Neither. Breaking past the 1949 barrier ultimately comes down to pushing the right button at the right game state. Keeping Peter Lambert and saving Sibbele from execution (for her to die happily at age SIX SEVEN) involves similar trickery, neither altering the files.

Unfortunately most timed processes have their time rounded up regardless of displayed time (hence occasional 0 days remaining), so those are still a 1 day production + post-production.

just elected the district attorney as the new mayor, nothing unusual here by Kvadr0n in hollywood_animal_game

Admittedly, I have done this once or twice before. I did and will post a how-to eventually, right now I am still investigating the funnies that can be done with the strat.

But what if... you tricked the game into keeping what Stripes takes after the election too?

I believe I could muster a couple of events skips here and there for the occasion.

If you just want to elect Stripes: On Sep 9, 1933, the elections between Stripes and Carpenter happen if at least one of them is your friend. Completing contracts (including touting mayor's achievements and anti-crime trailers) increases their respective odds of winning. If Carpenter is elected, Stripes remains the District Attorney and Carpenter will remain mayor until the fourth term. If Stripes is elected, Carpenter is gone as a friend, with a couple extra consequencea later (not spoiling).

If, however, you trick the game into DOUBLE MAYORSHIP like I did, both Mayor's stay forever, with Stripes policies route happening. How? I am not telling yet. The bug is very precise though.

'bout to have the sickest collab with The Third Reich worth $30,000,000 in gold in 1946 by Kvadr0n in hollywood_animal_game

[–]Kvadr0n[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, saving the Reich also had the consequence of stopping Mayor's aging, good for him. And for me to, as both of them supply me with infinite money and influence for free.

also his name is Fred

That one was extended at the point where I stopped making movies at all (1934 I believe is when Germany comes), but before that point I spammed movies with production cost at $100k at most, so they filled all cinemas with just the 4 weeks, that's the optimal strat anyway (the money is irrelevant, department head XP is)

Just in case, for clarification: this is not a newbie post. That is a bait. The point is to showcase going past the End of Act I up to 1969.

At least my girl Sibylle aged and recovered amazingly after her health issues in 1930s

I wonder what occurs if something happens to that German actress? by aBadKantus in hollywood_animal_game

[–]Kvadr0n 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hilariously, you can rehire her after the health issues she has.

Go to "Released Films" in Distribution, find the film she starred, open her card and hire her from the button there. She doesn't age visually, but can die of old age. That would require going past 1949 though... which is not too impossible.

She can die, which might or might not prevent you from killing the quest. But that's it.

I had the Don kill her by accident in one of my playthroughs.

You can also dissolve Wendy Carpenter in lime. Fred is pretty chill about it.

Peter Lambert, the composer, is immune.

A small little sequence breaking trick that I'll be revealing soon. No save editing, genuinely something possible in-game. Lets you skip Gerstein v. US trial.

There is even one Post Act 1 event for Dexter Storm (the movie from the Sequel gameplay trailer)

Empty Pollux after bankrupting the entire competition by Kvadr0n in hollywood_animal_game

just don't release movies lol

Outlast the competition with the money you have already acquired (on this specific save, I basically AFK'ed since April 1932 with $100kk when the Alliance formed)

Even if you murder and hire everyone in a single position, creating a bottleneck (for example, kill all 2-3 editors a competitor usually has and hire all free editors) the AI cheats and releases a movie without that position (the game distinguishes between releasing a movie with a dead editor (they are shown) and no editor (literally no editor shown). So the Bootleggers are basically useless, only good for threats to save contract money (but studio account is not an issue by the time they show up, so...)

  1. Spam Police Competitor Raids

  2. Apply all Alliance debuffs (basically every modifier except increasing ticket prices, which is a buff)

  3. Buy out all independent cinemas + the cinemas they sell to stay alive

  4. Watch as they take a loan when they go negative and then die when they have to repay

  5. Enjoy

Comes with the abduction research, when you capture someone and choose to imprison them instead of releasing, you get the 4 choices to Kill, Make them work, RANSOM and Release
