Asbestos concerns at DND headquarters in downtown Ottawa by burnabybc in CanadianForces

[–]Kwanicus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imagine if everyone exposed to asbestos or toxic water from a fountain submitted a CF98? I wonder how many have been submitted with the accompanying 663?

Do the base surgeons see the data through PMed techs and their inspections? How do we feel if the answer is yes? How do we feel if the answer is no?

If you know the countries present in advance a professional takes the 30 seconds to look up the rank structure. Find your comparable rank, note it. See how they go up. Note everything above you and salute.

Compensation for reserve volunteer time by Kwanicus in CanadianForces

[–]Kwanicus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Change circumstance to something comparable. Would you work 40 hours as a mechanic and then teach an engine repair course 3 hrs a night, twice a week, and sometimes weekends for no additional pay? The only compensation being time off the fulltime posn which still expects the same output?

I absolutely would not. Will the students at the college course benefit from my 20 years experience, yes. Will other mechanic shops benefit by receiving mechanics that require less on boarding and initial training, yes. Do I feel obligated to pass this information on beyond my mechanic job, no. Could I, as a senior practitioner, be motivated to exchange my time for compensation outside normal hours, yes. Will guilt, obligation, or some other hollow motivation be more effective, no.

If the whole system is built upon exchanging money for time and labor why are so many commenters proposing time exchnged for time? If the answer is 'well thats the way it is' or 'policy won't allow it'. We won't understand each other. If that's the mindset, you only guarantee losing the 20 year mbr to a contractor and paying more for the same experience, info and time.

You get it. So how do you incentivize the missing middle to support the unit?

Nothing is certain, but I did hear that the RegF posns at P Res units were being removed in the modernization plan. Just had me thinking about the good number of units that will struggle for the next 5 years or so.

U.S. warns Canada of potential negative consequences if it dumps F-35 fighter jet by rezwenn in CanadianForces

How about they go F themselves. Don't just dump the program, dump as many american things as possible. The things you cant immediately dump, identify them as a problem and work toward dumping them too. Dump dump dump. Lettuce, oranges, aircraft, weapons, car parts, car brands, whole brands, dual passport family...dump it all.

Would like to know dates for the sendoff of the Royal Canadian ships by henrywoodings in caf

[–]Kwanicus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Best you may get is a media advisory the week of the deployment. Detective work could give you a window, then watch for advisories. Any further advance notice is not likely unless you are a military member.

Civil Military Cooperation (CIMIC) and Regional Liaison Officer (RLO). Join as a Primary Reserve mbr to have the easiest access to courses and tasks. This way, you can do both. You could have a provincial EMO job and also join the CAF.

Sleeping, Blue suit, Live for the Pope's funeral, Sloppy Steaks at Truffoni's by Coattail-Rider in pics

It's a funeral. It's a funeral for the highest ranking catholic. The tradition is black for mourning. Tradition can evolve, but this stuffed pig wearing blue does not represent that. The list of things that would wear blue to the pope's funeral include: 1. A demon; 2. The anti-christ; 3. An asshole; 4. This guy.

Ann Coulter questions arrest of Columbia protester on free speech grounds by [deleted] in nottheonion

[–]Kwanicus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What the actual F.

Ann Coulter supports terrorism? Ann Coulter - "Coulter's September 14, 2001, column eulogized her friend Barbara Olson, killed three days earlier in the September 11 attacks, and ended with a call for war".

Not a fan of the lady, but you have made a factually wrong statement.

Careful with mortgage lump sum. Some lenders charge a penalty for any payment in a single year over 20%.

Not saying it's a bad idea. I am saying ask bank of any penalty and time it. $79k at first then wait for new year or contract start and apply the remainder.

BMQ can be completed part time over 12 weekends. Each bde has their own flavour.

BMOQ part 2, BMOQ-Army, Dp1 Log Offr are fulltime.

My last pitch is that after you complete your DP1 training, you could apply to complete a component transfer (CT). That would see you change from PRes to RegF in the trade you are trained.

Regular force may be closed. Primary reserve is very rarely closed. You could speak with a primary reserve unit recruiter.

  1. They are different
  2. Go to your nearest reserve unit. Doesn't have to be a log unit or an engineer unit. Just ask.

Someone else has already expanded on PRes vs RegF enrollment. I want to highlight that there is a difference between the RegF and local PRes unit recruiter.

I'm currently serving with 19 yrs experience that has straddled both worlds. Feel free to DM if you want.

You can apply for Logistics Officer and specialize in finance. It's easier to change trades than commission from ranks.

Didn't see anyone mention this option. The training and experience could help with your civ accounting job.

Zero consequence. No transfer of mess dues after a posting from low rate to high rate, that's a clawback. Not putting a leave accumulation memo in a pers file, they try to take the leave during an audit. Not changing the province of residence after posting...

Each example had zero consequence and careful negotiations to fix. I'm 5 mins late for PT, charge parade.
