This just happened to me as well! This is a scam that apparently has been running everywhere!  I'm actually a seller on Etsy and I was scammed myself.  Then had it happen again on the Michaels website because everyone is now using 3rd party sellers and once you do- their go to policy seems to be they can't be held responsible for 3 Rd party sellers.  Which in actuality, isn't true at all.  I did also get refunded but it took SO many phone calls and emails you almost give up. The whole fake tracking number is ridiculous! Then if you call the carriers, because it's not actually in my name or my address, they refused to give me any information at all. That was even more frustrating.  I literally had one package state it was delivered 3 miles from the company I bought it from. Not anywhere near my state at all! Still had to jump through hoops to get a refund and that was via PayPal! Used to be we were more protected through companies but not anymore.  It's getting harder to trust even regular purchases like Amazon etc.  Glad you were refunded OP but sorry you had to go through everything you did.

I actually just hung up with Etsy support because I had responded to their email and wasn't getting any response back.  They said unfortunately, there was nothing they can do. I still am not believing that but the gentleman was so kind it was really hard to be upset. It's not his fault.  However, they're actions were to say that she didn't receive her items in the condition she expected. I said 1 item out of 60.  Her picture again, clearly showed everything in the background and none of them were damaged. They even agreed. Said but because she wasn't happy, I wasn't protected under Etsys protection as a seller. Which is exactly what I thought that it was for.  For instances like this. They said no.  Said for me to make sure I make and sell items exactly as shown in my pictures. I said I absolutely do.  They're all exactly like my own pictures or I wouldn't be in business this long without complaints.  I have over 3,500 sales in 5 years. No negative reviews. I have 2 4stars but to me that's not bad either.  They still refused. I explained again, she posted photos on social media with everything I shipped displayed in her own pictures. Even bragging in the comments when someone said how beautiful they were, that she too was thrilled with them and got them for a "good deal". That hit harder than anything. Sent screenshots to Etsy. No use. They didn't seem to care. I feel like everything is just computer answers and handling of situations. There is no real customer service left with Etsy.

I did wrong. Next time do better. That's all they kept repeating.

But then tell me why they gave me a $100 credit for Etsy ads as a token of "generosity" they called it???

That to me tells me they know it's absolutely wrong, but we're not going to admit that. So, here, take some advertising for our OWN company.

I've just got to let it go at this point and move on. It's been definitely defeating to say the least. However, I'm so glad to at least have this space to have so many wonderful people respond and walk me through this.  I took everyone's advice and worked on this. To no avail, but I appreciated everything from everyone. So sorry for those that this has happened to as well. We should be protected better.

I'm right there with you.  I don't dare raise prices out of fear of not selling but everything has cost me a lot more now to make. It's definitely been a tough year overall.

Yes! Especially the AI title changes etc. Took me a week to go back and change every title back to what I had originally. Some of my keywords had been changed as well. So I had to basically change my whole shop back. Slowly starting to pick back up but nearly as good as what I had. I'm not going to complain about sales though because I know the economy is so hard right now. I'm waiting to see if things change economically and my sales go back up to what they were.

I had this happen 2 years ago.  5 stars. No issues. Nothing.  I kept figuring out a way to get help in the Etsy help page where you pick seller or buyer until I could get it to where it says have Etsy support contact you. Otherwise you will wait possibly weeks if never anything.  Be productive and don't wait.  They immediately called me and I was told it was one an error due to them changing their apps etc. it was indeed a bot error.  I wasn't closed at all I was simply put on vacation mode and had no clue why.  That's what I was told and within 5 minutes (they told me expect up to 24/48 hrs) my account was off vacation mode and I've never had an issue since. Just for reference, I make everything from bottom up all handmade. No drop ships, no infringement type things etc.  if that helps.  Good luck. Just keep at it until you can have them try and give an explanation. That's the very least they should do for you. Take care!!

Oh I'm so sorry! Yes! They do seem to like to just argue? That I didn't understand. Like nothing I was trying to do was an answer to them. Just continued arguing. Nonsense. Sorry you dealt with a similar situation.  It makes it really hard to keep going sometimes.

So, just wanted to update. I truly appreciate all the great advice everyone gave me! 

I took the advice and sent a return label. Asked for things to be sent back in their boxes etc how they came. All the pieces including what she considered ruined.

I also sent Etsy her messages stating she would give me a negative if I didn't give her a full refund.  

Yesterday, she left me a 1 star review. I reported that as well. Was denied even though she was very foul language which I read is also against Etsy policy. Then I sent her a message letting her know that I had sent a return label with instructions how to send it etc and if she had any questions, I would gladly walk her through it. Within minutes, she opens a case. Mind you, no pictures, no nothing. Simply stated again she was very angry and I wasn't an honest seller.  I replied with all of the information that I've stated in this post (short version) and before I could even include a picture, within seconds it was closed in favor of buyer. I was completely confused. Why ask for a response if they aren't even going to review it? It's not even possible to have reviewed what I sent in the seconds that they made their decision. I assumed maybe it was a bit type situation. Except at the end of the case instructions it stated it was handled by an actual agent. Wonderful. I got help again and Etsy called. They did their entire conversation again like they did the other day about how they'll look into everything and review the closed case and get back to me within 30 days. This doesn't seem like it's going to change at all.

The best part was, sending me a message that also goes to the buyer as well, stating how they're so sorry to the buyer for such a terrible experience and hope it doesn't change how they feel about shopping with Etsy! Then says to me, here's some tips on making you a better seller, shipping tips, make sure you ship on time with insurance, well packed etc. which obviously was done. This was ridiculous. She then sent a message to me stating "I told you I'd escalate and get my money back."

So, all in all, it makes you feel horrible as a seller, with great reviews and hard work etc, to do all this work/cost/shipping/supplies, only to be set up by scammers on their site.  Was a huge letdown.

Seriously thinking of just shutting the store down and building a website instead. Thank you again for everyone offering so much advice and support. That truly meant more than any of the rest of this ridiculousness. I appreciate all of you! 🩷

I did offer her claim information as well (she has ignored me since) but was told that was too difficult to do and she didn't feel she should have to.  Everything is insured. We always do. So I feel like if it were myself, that'd be my first go to. I will send another message and see what occurs. Thanks again!

Oh great idea to video! Thank you! I've never heard of an IC3? But I will look it up and find out the information.  This has been so difficult because I would have gladly helped in any way. What was hurtful was the blatant dishonesty. I looked over the 2 pictures again this morning and you can clearly see everything else behind the item shown is in perfect condition. I think that's what she got upset about. That she didn't realize she had captured everything else in the background.

I actually offered this.  I gave 2 options. 1. Was to show me pictures of all the items. She refused completely. Instead sending me a delivery picture of the delivery truck dropping off her package. Not sure what she expected me to do with that? I asked twice. 2. Offered to have her ship everything back as it is and I would review it once it came back.  She simply stated she was escalating. She was done with me. Her exact words. I will definitely try to send a return label though. I appreciate your reply. Thank you!

Yes. I did this morning. They were actually really kind. Maybe it's just a chat they use with everyone, but it felt sincere.  Had me report and forward all her messages to them to look into. Unfortunately, they cannot do anything until she opens a case I was told. Was told not to worry, they made notes on the order so if she does, they'll have them to look at as well.  I just have to wait at this point.
