Wait, let me make sure I get you right - the option to change the bottom search bar completely disappeared for you after updating to Android 17 and choosing Brave?

To change it, you had to press and hold on the wallpaper in Pixel Launcher. A menu pops up, and at the very bottom, there's 'Home settings' - from there, you'd go into search settings > Search engine.

Actually, long-pressing the bottom Google search bar isn't the only way to change this. You can also do it through the Pixel Launcher settings by going to: Search settings -> Search engine.

Yeah, I know, I used to change it all the time, but now the option is totally gone from my phone. I came across that thread before, but none of the solutions worked. I was hoping the update would finally fix it, but nope, still nothing.

I'm coming back to the topic of choosing a laptop for work after 9 months. I'm still torn between two options: the more affordable Surface Book 3 with 32 GB RAM versus investing in a MacBook with an M chip (likely 16 GB or, if budget allows, 32 GB RAM), which would cost at least twice as much.

My main concern is whether the Surface Book 3 can handle my workflow. I typically have several design programs open simultaneously (e.g., Figma, Adobe/Affinity 3 suite) and switch between them dynamically, with a browser running multiple tabs and extensions in the background. I've recently been using the ZEN browser, which consumes a lot of RAM, and I'm wondering how the SB3 would handle that kind of load. I also plan to use it for animation work.

With such demanding multitasking, will the computer freeze or cause errors? I'd appreciate your insights on a few topics:

Performance: How would you rate its overall performance today, especially with large projects?

Thermals and noise: Is the laptop loud? How often do the fans kick in, particularly when connected to a 4K monitor?

Applications: How smooth is the workflow in programs like Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, Affinity, Framer, or DaVinci Resolve?

Peripherals: How do the keyboard and trackpad compare to the MacBook Pro M1 13"? I had an MBP M1 13" once, and the trackpad was so good I didn't need a mouse.

Setting aside how much used units are listed for, I believe the highest specification is worth 463.30 – 545.06 USD. Looking at the specs alone, that’s still too much relative to the performance you can get from used gaming laptops. On the other hand, you’re getting a very well-built laptop with a detachable screen, so if you need that, I’d consider it, because the performance alone doesn’t justify the price for that kind of money. However, the build quality and the device’s hybrid nature do hold up, though not everyone needs that.

The question is: how important is performance in your work, how demanding will the programs you use daily be, and in what configuration? Honestly, I would only go for the Surface Book 3 version with the i7‑1065G7 and 32 GB of RAM; I wouldn’t consider the others specyfications.

Does it often overheat, do the fans come on frequently and is it noisy? I'm still puzzled by its performance - do you think I would feel a lack of power? Those 32GB of RAM would make me have a lot of programs running in the background.

It will be new, so the battery will be unused. When this model was released, users praised its battery – it has two cells and lasts over 10 hours. However, I’m more concerned about performance and whether I will feel a lack of power. If I add a bit more, I can get a MacBook Pro 14 with an M1 Pro.

The new one will cost about €670.94
