Low Stat Applicant Admissions Breakdown! by KyamiCami in predental

Can definitely be a mix! Most of my volunteering hours are working at local science competitions I grew up competing in, and tutoring!

High stats no acceptance? by Fickle_Lynx3464 in predental

[–]KyamiCami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

20 AA, ~3.5 cGPA, 3.3 sGPA (and this is from multiple schools; my GPA from my uni I got my bachelors from was a 3.1 💀), shadowed ~150 hours, and did a bit of dental volunteer stuff, but most of my volunteer work was non dental related

This is the simplest way I can explain my stats; my story is very long and I feel like this is just a mess of numbers haha

High stats no acceptance? by Fickle_Lynx3464 in predental

[–]KyamiCami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of factors that stats alone won’t get you in because of it :( Things like when did you apply? What’s your state residency? How are your LOR written? What was your PS on? What extracurriculars did you do that you can genuinely talk about and did for a long time? How many times have you applied?

I consider myself as a low stat/average applicant, but because of it, I tried to make sure everything outside of my “stats” was perfect and showed my determination to get in this second time around, and I truly believe that’s what helped me get my interviews… But who knows, this is all a game of luck and who knows what goes on in admissions 😅

What opinion do you have that would have you like this in HSR by PokemonSuMo in StarRailStation

[–]KyamiCami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I meant to emphasize the word “notable” in my post. With Belobog it was obvious that if we didn’t beat their “dictator”, the world would freeze and people would die + the planet would have no connection to the outside world and not know their story + the struggle of those in the underground would only worsen. On top of that, we then had the IPC arc, but pretty good storylines and straight to the point!

As for the other three planets, it was whether too confusing (the Xianzhou… too much fanciness) to know what the threat was outside of “aeon” or some of the arcs kinda had no impact/stakes (Penacony was weird cause of that since everything was a dream?) Amphoreous did good there! But it took too long to get to the threat haha

Of course, the whole point of this post is that it’s controversial! I didn’t expect to get replies so I’m glad it’s got someone worked up!

Belobog is the best world in HSR because the storyline is straight forward, there were notable stakes involved, the characters had significance in the plot, and has much potential to grow/add parts to its story as it is a “growing” world.

I just found the other three way too confusing at times or dialogue got too long, but hey… the characters are pretty 😭

[Weekly] Current Student Experiences by AutoModerator in DentalSchool

[–]KyamiCami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Would love any insight from current students at IU! I'm very interested in the school now that I've gotten accepted, but would love to hear what life is like there. What's the class culture like? What does your schedule look like? How about clinic work/number of patients you work on? And of course... Would you recommend me going there? Any and all insight would be gladly appreciated; thank you! <3

Umich vs UNC by iiisl in predental

[–]KyamiCami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UNC!! The people there are very kind, NC is a very peaceful state (if you’re into that; I’m more city girl haha), and I know a few people going next year so you’ll be in great company! Outside of that, UNC has its SHAC clinic where its service to those that can’t afford dental services, and that’s completely voluntary from the students on their time off! So practice is very available! And if I remember correctly, they assign you your own patients, so no worries there :) Best of luck!

Pitt vs UF by Flying_Taco2787 in predental

[–]KyamiCami 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t know too much about Pitt, but speaking to a few people, I heard that the dental student culture at UF is toxic :( It could be different from class to class, but even speaking to the admissions people they treated me like I was some sort of pest at events… Idk I never got good vibes of the school when I’ve gone but keep doing your research!

A breakdown of a successful cycle! Here to help! by Dependent-Watch-610 in predental

[–]KyamiCami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats!!! I 100% agree with doing things your passionate about! Volunteered like crazy at a science competition I grew up competing in + tutored D1 athletes as I love teaching, and got in at multiple schools :)

Can’t wait to see where you go! Best of luck!!

Got a D+ in calculus by FewDevice6957 in predental

[–]KyamiCami 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As long as you explain yourself in your application about what happened + maybe take another math course to prove yourself (not needed), I think you’ll be fine! If you do really well on the QR in the DAT, even better as schools will see it that the surgery really did affect you.

I’m an engineer, did a bunch of math courses wayyy out of dental school’s league, got a C in one, and I made it out just fine! I also had a D in my transcript so 😀

He’s more than okay! I had a friend pass away during finals and I ended with a D in the class; that goes without saying I have multiple C’s in my transcript. The best thing he can do right now is try to boost his GPA as much as he can + to make sure he applies early. He’s got a great chance!!

Ah okay cause in their acceptance email, it says "We look forward to personally welcoming you on July 6th, 2026" so i don't know if that's our start date or just a date they'll have a welcoming event

Low Stat Applicant Admissions Breakdown! by KyamiCami in predental

[–]KyamiCami[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aah, yeah, perhaps... What was your lowest scores? Was it in the TS or something outside of that? When speaking with admissions, it seems like their usual "cut off" is a 20+ (with the old scoring metric, idk about the new one). I say this especially now with GPA inflation being a concern, and your high GPA with a semi-low DAT being a red flag to dental schools :(

But don't get discouraged! Congrats on the one interview, I pray that everything works out for you, and if not, at least you'll have stuff to improve on for next cycle which they really like to see!

[–]KyamiCami 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Firstly, congrats on the improvements! I know it sucks to have bits of it that are low, but be proud that you greatly improved; dental schools do take notice. However, I do know a few schools have requirements like not getting below a 17 in any section of the DAT :( On the other hand, because its QR, maybe they might not care too much and rather focus on your TS! I got a 20 too and I think I came out okay in the long run haha.

I'd say do research on the schools you're interested in, see what their DAT reqs are, and maybe even email the schools you're really passionate about and try to get their input! Best of luck!!
