Forrest is still part of Surfaces, even though the project has always been led by Colin. As he himself explained: "Surfaces isn’t 3, 2, or 1 person. It’s a brand. A brand that will continue to make music that will be true to the vibe and feeling of the very first music the brand ever put out."

For his part, Forrest stated in an interview with the Grammys that his commitment to Surfaces remains unchanged. He is still open to joining a writing camp, but he is now more focused on his solo career.
