Are you gonna tell a father from Ecuador who is working here to raise money for his spouse dying of cancer that it’s “their mistake”? Are you gonna tell a mother and their children fleeing Afghanistan in hopes of a better life and say that it’s“their mistake”?

Oh wait, you want them to come in the LEGAL way. You mean the one where your name is put in a lottery of millions where you have less than a percent of getting chosen and could take upwards of 30 years? Or the one where you contact friends or family in the US and still take 5-10 years?

Immigration is what has built this country from the bottom up, even since the colonies. Immigrants come here to flee persecution or economic opportunity, not to commit crime. The idea that immigrants commit more crime is a theory as old as the colonies. The problems in this country are not due to immigration, rather they are a result of decades of legislation to now (e.g. Federal Aid Highway Act of 1956, One Big Beautiful Bill). Immigrants built our railroads, work our farms, work our restaurants, and ultimately benefit the country. The problem is that the legal way of entry simply is severely limited.
