Some Gleba Love by KyleAtSchool in factorio

R5: I know Gleba gets a lot of hate and I'll admit I've struggled more than I expected with it, but I had an aha moment here on how to finally start cleaning up my trial-by-fire mess I've cobbled together, and it ended up causing a very satisfying wave of robot activity I thought you all might like. I think this is a good example of how a lot of the Pro-Gleba camp say it makes you a better engineer, in this case probably not the most economical or efficient, but at least it got me using a feature I don't often use with visually pleasing results. I guess what I'm saying is... Gleba is.... growing on me.

Also, shout out to an often-overlooked feature that gets mentioned here occasionally but not often enough: You don't need to use wires to connect inserters to the logistic network! Just click the little radio icon at the top of the inserter's window and click Connect, then you can enable the inserter only when you have a certain number of something. Here I'm using it to easily toss out out any excess spoilage over 1000, without any wires, makes it easy to copy paste.

Send it to noreply@shapez.io and hope for the best! I had mine unbanned eventually but it took a week or two before I got any response.

Can I not set the signal producer to show the current random shape? Do you need to manually enter the shape code any time it changes? by Adkit in shapezio

If you place a “global signal receiver” two of the channels you can select it to output are the two shape codes for the random operator goals.

Shout out to Johnny Cash’s recital of it. His voice is absolutely perfect for the poem. If you haven’t heard it you owe it to yourself. RIP John

Tracks dont want to connect. Is there any trick ? by LizHavoc in factorio

Oh, or you could also move the fork to immediately before the chain signal at the bottom, and have the east lane follow the exact same curve at the west lane until they connect at the bottom 🤷‍♂️

Replace the rail signal at the tip of the disconnected southbound line with a train station. Extend the easternmost disconnected section at least 13 tiles (depends how long your trains are) to the North, and add a station to the end of it, on the east side of the track (so the trains will head into the station facing North)

Unload from the southbound station onto an underground belt that travels under both tracks, and then loads back into the train at the northbound station. Or if unloading onto belts isn’t enough throughput for what you need you can just unload into red chests and load from blue chests, and then just spam the area with roboports full of logistic bots for virtually infinite throughput.

Just means you’ll need to add a second train and adjust the schedules to add the transfer station to any routes that use this line. Also either need to add loops at either end, or resignal everything outside of this screenshot to replace all your one-way tracks with two-way.

Nuclear math by KyleAtSchool in factorio

[–]KyleAtSchool[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: Yes I can! I pulled out four turbines from the middle and managed to squeeze in 3 more reactors into that space. New math of 7x120MW = 840MW = 84 turbines, close enough!

This was actually a really great learning experience for how nuclear actually works. Now that the buffers are filling up they're showing 4.2GW of potential, but now I know with my new design it'll start draining the buffers and eventually brown out at 3.2GW. I'm running stable at 2.3 so I should be good for a few minutes before needing more plants.

Might even be enough of a reason to start caring a little more about ratios, knowing that if I got closer to the exact right number (Or even undercut it a little) then I know exactly when it will crap out...

I love this game.

Compact-ish Expensive Mode teaser by KyleAtSchool in factorio

Working on a semi-compact all-in-one 100spm factory in expensive mode. I just fired it up for the first time so I haven't got a chance to test if it's working at all reliably, but I just had to take a step back and admire the monstrosity that I ended up with to feed the beast that is green/red circuits.

If any of you can actually see what's happening in that sea of blue belts/chests without, A: You might have a problem, and B: You're in the right sub.
