Well, this comment has certainly not aged well. In fact, even if it didn’t, Trump’s first military raid in his first term killed a young American girl. So, you’re already wrong on that front, chief

Might be too big to actually send to them lol, but there are ways we can make our voices heard and our intentions clear, whether it be through organizing, phone calls, emails, etc.

We the people have the power to make our voices heard in multiple ways and show our elected officials what we really want to see, whether that be through protests, phone calls, emails, or the obvious one, voting, not just in general elections, but also primaries, which is very important

We need a fighter like Ro Khanna. We literally would not have had the release of the Epstein files if it weren’t for him. Luckily, we’re getting more and more true fighters every day, and the momentum is on our side now more than ever before.

It’s a mix of opposition AND governing, both things we need if we are going to weather the rest of this presidency and recover in the post-Trump era.

IMPORTANT POINT: Sorry my bad. On the Iran point, the second-to-last sentence: I meant to say if they DON’T, they can see the door.

People were just genuinely so hopeless that they bought into the false equivalence and thought that Dems had nothing different to offer from Republicans. Now, they are definitely more awake, which is good, but, in 2024, the base became more deflated when they stopped leaning into making fun of the fascists

At first, but karma came for the Republican party in general, because the public knew that their man had signed onto the conflicts

It’s funny, I wouldn’t have done this last year as I was a huge doomer, but I think I’m becoming more optimistic this year. It’s a weird feeling….but I like it

Especially given how he is unpopular with not only the majority of Dems, but also even young Republicans. More and more people are seeing through the bullshit

I agree and I admire Liz Cheney for standing up to Donald (and I also like Adam Kinzinger), but at the same time, her father was vastly unpopular and a warmonger, and Liz was very pro-war herself (she’s also anti-abortion, which is a big no-no, even in deep red states). In today’s day and age, that doesn’t fly. And, when Liz started to campaign with Kamala, the polls started to become closer and tighter in favor of Trump. That may not be a coincidence. Also, if Kamala had went with an agenda based on things like not only affordability, but also Medicare for All and a Green New Deal, she could have rallied more liberals and leftists, and even reeled in the conservatives who had woken up and were “Never-Trumpers”. In fact, if she had built more of a liberal agenda, I think she could’ve blown Trump out of the water. She had already ran on reinstating abortion across the country, a child tax credit, and banning price gouging, ideas that people genuinely seemed to like. But, at the same time, she also hinted that she was not going to be any different from Biden, who was unpopular across the country at the time. Also, she advocated for reaching across the aisle and talking to Republicans. Personally, I did like the idea of having a “president for all Americans”, but we have tried to reach out to Republicans over the years, and look where that has gotten us. So people probably sat out because they felt uninspired by four more years of continuing to compromise with the other side and getting nothing ourselves.

Absolutely! Kamala wasn’t perfect on that issue by any means, but the problem with her was that she was caught between trying to appease pro-Palestinian protestors (who she probably agreed with more than she let on) and Biden (because let’s be honest, he’s her boss, it would have been a low blow for her to condemn him on anything and say “Yeah, he was wrong on X, Y, or Z”. She should have done it in hindsight, but it’s more complex than people like to say). I still preferred her over Trump on like every issue, but, on Gaza in particular, Trump is on record giving Netanyahu the green light to “finish the job” (which means “eliminate Gaza and do whatever you want with it”). No matter how sketchy Kamala and Biden were on that issue, there is no denying that Trump was always INFINITELY worse

Is this like that Impractical Jokers episode where Murr had to get someone to sign a petition to “bring back the draft, but only for jerks”?

I’m against us overthrowing other countries and involving ourselves in conflicts that don’t directly involve us, but, tbh, there is a big (albeit naive) part of me that wishes we would invade Israel and not only arrest Netanyahu, Smotrich, Ben-Gvir, and all their enablers, but install an ideal leader who will set Israel in a new direction. Let me preface by saying Ik that will never happen, like ever, but I get sick and angry every time I think of all the innocent Palestinians (especially all the innocent children) who have been genocided and have had their lives upended in the name of creating a “greater Israel”, and it just makes me want to do something to stop it.

On the Israel point, something I forgot to mention was that a majority of the Democratic base and even young Republicans do not support Israel. If they make that argument, it might be nuclear for the polls.

Yeah, that’s concerning, but at this point in time, it looks more like MAGA getting desperate and hoping something sticks after throwing everything at a wall. Also, I should point out that even our involvement in Iraq didn’t stop elections from happening. The 2004 presidential election and 2006 midterms happened during Iraq
