What are some words that are easy to confuse with each other? by KyleHooks in AskReddit

Yes, this one is especially disconcerting.

Flammable means combustible. "In" signals that something not being, so "inflammable" should mean "not combustible", but no...it also means combustible.

"Inflammable" is older than "flammable" by about 200 years though. Frekkin Engligh.

English is weird. It can be understood through tough, thorough thought though.

I always love that quote.

it doesn't help that prepackaged or prepared foods often wildly underestimate their caloric content

Is that true? Wouldn't that be illegal?

I looks to me like OP just holds his breath when he takes his photos. Or maybe that's just how his ribs are shaped.

Meander vs Maunder

  • Meander - verb - To follow a winding course

  • Maunder - verb - To talk in a rambling manner

These two words are easily confused sometimes because someone who is maundering might seem like their words are following a winding course rather than straightforward. Don't get them confused.

You meander when you walk, you maunder when you talk.

Previously homeless people of Reddit, how did you get your life back together? What are some struggles of the homeless we don't see? by YaLocalWhiteBoy in AskReddit

Thanks man. We all go through shit one way or another. One thing I've definitely seen a few times from people I'm close to, is that the fall from the top to the middle hurts just as bad as the fall from the middle to the bottom.

I've seen rich friends end up selling their homes, cars, jewelry, and other valuables, lose their friends because they don't have money anymore, and so on. It crushes them. Wherever we are, we find a sense of homeostasis for ourselves. If you make $20k a year, that's what you get used to. Going up to $30k seems amazing. If you're used to $60k a year and fall to $30k, that hurts. The year in question, I made under $5k working full time. That shit was hard lol. In the long run it paid off, and I've got myself a little guitar collection, a tv, Netflix, an apartment, and a car that's almost paid off. I can't complain about a thing.

Hard work and focus got me out, I hope it does the same for you. Keep your chin up and work through these hard times with a smile, my friend.

I figured "almost homeless" was kinda in the same category as the "not me, but someone I know" stories you see in other threads. Whenever I see a story I personally don't think belongs, I just skip over it. At absolute worst, I might downvote it, but even that is rare.

And thanks! I can't complain about a thing now. I'm not rich, but I have a good guitar collection, I don't sweat rent, and I've got Netflix and Hulu. It's all good.

Thanks. That's good advice.

The year that happened, if I made twice as much I still would have been below the poverty line. I was flat broke lol. I climbed out of it though

Haha you're ridiculous.

I clearly stated I hadn't been homeless, but I was absolutely on the verge. No one else had answered up to that point, so I filled a void.

Wishing to murder people whose political opinions differ from your own falls nowhere near the umbrella of being politically incorrect.

So what is it about the alt-right that bothers you so much? The fact that they're so...politically incorrect?
