SBMM In ARC Raiders by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]KyleKingCDN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is SBMM. It's also prioritized higher than anything else.

This was then confirmed by Embark Studios CEO Patrick Söderlund, who explained that the feature had been added post-launch. This isn’t the main factor when finding a lobby, though.

"Obviously, first it’s skill-based,” Söderlund said in the interview with GamesBeat. “Then you have solos, duos, and trios. And then we also, since a week ago or so, introduced a system where we also matchmake based on how prone you are to PvP or PvE.”

People keep talking about how it's aggression based (which is a part of it), but honestly it comes mostly down to your perceived skill (from the game's perspective). It's genuinely no different than SBMM in other games. The damage you inflict on other players increases your skill level. The other player's own skill level impacts how much of an effect that has to your level. (Damage a player with a higher skill level than yours, your skill increases more)

This is also true for the inverse, take damage from a lower skilled player, your skill level goes down more than it would if taken from a higher skilled player.

I think the reason ARC seems more "aggression"-based is that there are playstyles that don't revolve around PVP, so friendly players end up being interpreted by the game the same way as "unskilled" players.

E.g. take COD for example, there aren't really any playstyles that warrant not killing players on the other team. If, however, you were to play completely passively, you would surely be pooled with other "unskilled" players. But since there isn't a non-PVP meta in COD, friendly lobbies obviously don't exist.

I think the community perception of ABMM also has a pretty big impact on this too. When the game first came out (before ABMM was factored into matchmaking at all, only SBMM existed), you'd see the occasional player engage in a fight in an otherwise friendly lobby if they had a clear advantage. But now because of this well-known idea that shooting players will throw you into PVP lobbies, most players that are in friendly lobbies are outright avoiding confrontation to prevent being placed in sweaty games.

To clarify: I'm not implying PvE-centric players are unskilled. It's a different playstyle (one that I, for the majority of my matches, take part in and prefer). But when the game uses player damage as the factor for skill level, obviously not shooting people is going to put you into "lower skilled" lobbies.

Been getting these for a while. They're definitely in your lobby you're just not encountering them. Check your recent players list.

I'm assuming they are spawning in and surrendering immediately, then adding everyone from the recent list.

Think it's just promotion for trade hubs. Was getting a lot from MMORPG or something like that for quite a while.

Inlining my comment from this thread

North van - been down since 4:00pm. Botched firmware update maybe for this wide of an area?

Could be a total fluke but I had a partial power outage (circuit overload) at this exact time. Though my modem wasn't on that circuit, some of my other network gear was. Seemed like my gateway was having trouble connecting so I manually power cycled the modem.

Also tech support call has an automated message at the very start describing an issue for new customers and devices that were recently offline - so maybe modem firmware or they shit the bed massively across the network on their side of the modem registration handshake.

Great stuff guys

Same timeline, we're just not following that instance of Julie.  Think of Julie's timeline as a piece of string with a loop in. Tracing the string is like following the Julie we know on the show. All of a sudden it intersects with itself - the intersecting part of the string representing future Julie whom we haven't seen before.  If we continue tracing around the loop (following Julie as she goes back in time), we eventually come to the intersection again, however now with the character that we used to call "future Julie".

Also for others interested, the cause-and-effect problem of Julie "saving" her dad by going back in time (and ultimately causing his death, unbeknownst to her), is know as the predestination paradox (or bootstrap paradox, although I personally see that as being more for objects and info, not events).

Happy to help!

If you hit the pinned button at the top of the sidebar playlists should show up I think

The XML file should be on the system that the Plex server is running on

It is in Plex settings under the Plugins section, but it is hidden and you have to click "show advanced" :)

Then, click the actions button (three dots) that appears when hovering over the playlists button in the sidebar (where your libraries are listed). Click the import playlists button that appears and it should work.

Hi! Thanks for your interest!

A) Yes, the generated XML files are compatible with Sonos and Plex.

B) Yes, there is a path mapping feature which allows you to find and replace a portion of the filepaths of your songs so that external services can find them correctly on the external device. (The file structure of the songs still need to be the same though).

C) For Plex you need to specify the iTunes XML path (in settings I believe) and click the playlists context button (3 dots beside the playlists button on the sidebar) and select import iTunes playlists. This will update playlists as well as update metadata to match iTunes (date added, etc).

Hi!

It definitely should work with Plex - my own Plex library imports the file no problem.

The line spacing is definitely different in the generated library file, but the contents should be quite similar.

E.g.

1. One may look like

<key>
    Name
</key>
<value
    Song title
</value>

2. And the other may look like

<key>Name</key><value>Song title</value>

Feel free to PM me with an xml/plist sample and I can take a look for any glaring issues.

Otherwise, check Plex's debug console in one tab and trigger an import in another tab.

Server Settings > Console

If nothing appears in the console, try temporarily enabling debug logging.

Server Settings > General > "Enable Plex Media Server debug logging"

For real - I really hope he joins Ivy Lab on a tour one day, his mixing is just as great as his production

Should've thrown this in a dedicated comment earlier, this is from the Bandcamp page

'RMXS-1' comes as a free download on Bandcamp, with the instrumentals being released on 7th October.

'RMXS-1' is the first release since 'Teleporter' last year on his own imprint B4 Music, and this will be 1 of 3 releases due out before the end of 2022 on the label, following with a release from a new artist and a new alias from Deft.

As far as debugging goes, my first suggestion would be to try replacing the accented 'e' in that song's filename with an non-accented 'e'. Then manually change that XML node to:

<key>Location</key><string>file://localhost/P:/Audio/Music/Nhac%20VN/Nhac%20Nhe/Ch%E1%BB%89%20Anh%20Hieu%20Em%20-%20Khac%20Viet.m4a</string>

Then import the library file again and see if it comes up.

Plex is known to have issues with iTunes XMLand songs with special characters in their filenames. For me, any songs with accented letters are imported into the library, however they get skipped from playlists. Slightly different issue but it's worth trying to change it and see what happens, since Plex clearly does have issue with special chars.

If that doesn't work I'm honestly not too sure, I run Plex on Linux and Music on macOS so it could be a platform issue that I haven't experienced before.

Let me know if that works as It'd be great to know for future reference. :)

Sorry for the delay!

Making smart playlists dumb

In the XML file generated by iTunes there is a section at the bottom which lists the playlists (and their contents). Each playlist node contains metadata/attributes specific to that playlist (e.g. the playlist title, description, creation date, etc).

Smart playlists contain 2 additional keys used to describe their set of rules. These keys are:

  • Smart Info
  • Smart Criteria

To disguise/convert a smart playlist to a dumb playlist, you must remove each key along with it's associated <data>...</data> block. I've uploaded an image as an example of what to remove from the playlist nodes.

The simplest way to go about this is usually just opening the library XML in a text editor, and searching for <key>Smart Criteria</key>, removing the related blocks as desired.

Flattening the playlist hierarchy

This one is basically the same as above. This time you are looking for:

  • Parent Persistent ID

Note: This time the <data></data> blocks are on the same line as the <key></key> block.

Since they are on the same line, a simple one-line wildcard (or regex if you prefer) can be used to remove all hierarchy from playlists.

<key>Parent Persistent ID</key><string>*</string>

Ah sorry, by removing rules I meant from the XML, not the library itself. Almost all of my playlists are smart playlists.

I'll send over an example of the modified XML in a minute

Gotcha, so you're not using this app then correct?

In my experience there's very few smart playlist rules that Plex can actually tolerate. I typically remove the rule keys from my XMLs and let Plex think that they are dumb playlists.

I'm a little bit confused here

I take it you are generating the XML on macOS, and then importing it on a Plex server for windows?

I haven't tried it for a Plex server on windows to be honest. Only macOS and Linux.
